This concert will also feature the winner of the 2026 Concerto-Aria Competition. \nThe evening opens with Part I of Haydn’s Creation\, a choral and orchestral masterpiece that vividly depicts the dawn of the world—light\, sky\, sea\, and stars bursting into being. In response to this oratorio\, we offer Dan Forrest’s i thank You God for most this amazing day\, a radiant setting of e.e. cummings’ poem that celebrates the joy and reverence of simply being alive within such a magnificent creation. The journey concludes with a choral arrangement of Mahler’s Ich bin der Welt abhanden gekommen\, a hauntingly beautiful meditation on retreating from the turmoil of the external world to find peace in the sanctuary of the human soul.
