SUMMARY:Grateful
DESCRIPTION:GRATEFUL is a Boise based tribute band paying respect to the legacy of the Grateful Dead. Each performance is arranged with the intent to capture the natural authenticity of the Grateful Dead’s live performance\, and “perfectly flawed” delivery in sound\, style\, and feel. No set list is the same\, and no song is played the same way twice. Each member of GRATEFUL recreate the persona of a band that meant so much to so many.

SUMMARY:Emo Nite
DESCRIPTION:Emo Nite is a late-night dance party in Boise celebrating the emo and pop-punk songs that defined a generation. Expect wall-to-wall anthems\, nostalgic throwbacks\, and a crowd singing every word at the top of their lungs. It’s loud\, emotional\, and all about reliving the music that never really left us. \nNot a band. Not DJ’s. We throw parties for the music we love. \nAs Rolling Stone observed a few years ago\, “Emo Nite Vindicated the Scene.” \nSince they threw their first party at an East L.A. dive bar\, Morgan Freed and T.J. Petracca\, and a dedicated crew of regular attendees\, built Emo Nite into a phenomenon. Top-tier emo artists\, old and new\, curate playlists and perform\, with guest lists boasting members of blink-182\, All Time Low\, Dashboard Confessional\, The Maine\, and Good Charlotte. Scene-friendly pop culture mavericks often participate\, like past attendees Post Malone\, Demi Lovato\, Machine Gun Kelly\, and Skrillex. \nIt’s all too easy to forget that before the first Emo Nite in December 2014\, “emo” was a joke. \nSomehow on its journey from a melodic post-hardcore subgenre\, built on earnest emotional expression\, to a mainstream moniker assigned to anything remotely angsty\, “emo” became a dirty word. Despite the positive impact ushered in by waves of bands\, from the crucial “Revolution Summer” and Sunny Day Real Estate through Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance\, accepting “emo” as a dismissive designation or identity invited polite embarrassment and even scorn. \nBut Freed and Petracca grew up loving the music associated with emo and the people like them who similarly embraced outsider art and subculture\, regardless of changing fashions or pretentious snobbery. Petracca told The New Yorker the idea behind the first Emo Nite celebration was to center a happy\, communal experience on the music they once listened to when they were upset and alone. \n“I sang Dashboard Confessional at karaoke at a friend’s birthday party and thought it was super fun to go out with friends and listen to music we actually liked\,” recalls Petracca\, who met Freed when the pair worked at a creative agency together. “Every other club in LA played EDM\, Top 40\, or hip-hop. We always found ourselves pre-gaming with emo and pop-punk music before we went out.” \nFreed knew a bartender at the Short Stop in Echo Park and convinced him to let them throw a party on a random\, rainy Tuesday. They invited friends via Facebook; double the bar’s capacity turned up. “We decided to see how far we could take it\,” Petracca says. “‘Who would be the craziest guest?’ We invited Mark Hoppus\, and he came! He did our first one at Echoplex\, which was our third party ever.” \n“There’s no disconnect between the artist and fan\,” Freed points out. “I think that’s brought people closer to the music. It created a really strong sense of community\, at a time when emo wasn’t ‘cool.’” \nThere may be a surprise acoustic set or even a full-band performance\, but ultimately\, it’s about the experience. Emo Nite turned a party into a community\, reclaiming the spirit of how the scene began. \nIt’s now a recurring event thrown by dozens of friends in over 30 cities in the United States. Emo Nite runs full-day festivals and curates coveted performance spots at Coachella\, Life is Beautiful\, and Firefly. Freed and Petracca launched successful clothing collaborations with brands like OBEY\, Urban Outfitters\, PLEASURES\, The Hundreds\, Rose in Good Faith\, Market\, and OWSLA. \n“A larger promoter told us the shelf life of a club night in Los Angeles was two years\,” Freed says\, marveling at Emo Nite’s staying power. “A hundred percent of it is the people that go to it. This music makes people feel connected. The energy of it is so special. You get a group of people together who look different\, but they have this thing in common. We started seeing friend groups form really\, really quickly. People met their significant others at these events. The community really trusts each other.” \n“Emo Nite LA has become an essential gathering point for fans of emo\, pop-punk\, and related styles\,” Rolling Stone noted. \nIn October 2021\, Emo Nite’s founders threw Emo Nite Vegas Vacation\, a three-day event headlined by Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly\, with Sleeping With Sirens\, MOD SUN\, 3OH!3\, and more. \n“What Emo Nite does better than any of their competitors is they make ‘emo culture’ feel both nostalgic and brand new\,” The Summer Set’s Brian Logan Dales told Forbes\, in a profile which included professions of love from members of Papa Roach\, Underoath\, and State Champs. “You can go to an Emo Nite with your best friends and sing along to old songs you grew up with\, and at the same time\, discover a brand-new artist who’s making music today because they grew up on that very same music as you. They’ve taken the emo of the past and helped it forge a new path for the future.” \nAs emo reenters popular culture with a blend of adoring nostalgia and optimistic forward- thinking\, Emo Nite remains an authentic space to celebrate diversity\, experience passionate catharsis\, and champion authentic expression. Emo Nite isn’t a band or a DJ crew. It’s an idea\, one as simple as the urge to throw a party for a beloved style of music. Often imitated but never truly duplicated\, Emo Nite’s founders and supporters are fond of saying\, “If you don’t see the grave\, it ain’t our rave.” \n“There’s a lot of ownership from our community of the event itself and the Emo Nite brand\,” Petracca says. “It’s about breaking down that barrier of ‘Look at me\, it’s all about me.’ No\, it’s about us\, together\, in this room. It belongs to every single person that comes through the door.”\nThe co-founders continue to look ahead. “Emo Nite definitely impacted culture\,” Freed notes. “But we have no plans to stop changing the way we view the evolution and expansion of the genre.”

SUMMARY:American Football w/ Mei Semones
DESCRIPTION:Before attaining global recognition as a defining pillar of the “Midwest Emo” sub-genre\, American Football was a humble University of Illinois-based indie rock band led by Mike Kinsella (founding Cap’n Jazz drummer-turned- vocalist-and-guitarist) along with Steve Holmes (guitar) and Steve Lamos (drums /\ntrumpet). They were influenced at the time by artists including Steve Reich\, Tortoise\, and The Sea and Cake.\nTogether\, American Football would play no more than a dozen sparsely attended shows before going their separate ways. With college graduation and some variation of adulthood looming\, the band’s parting gift would be shared in the form of a self-titled album\, released in September of 1999 via the locally founded Polyvinyl Record Co. What would transpire over the ensuing fifteen years\, however\, is something made of rock and roll legend – where word of mouth meets message boards\, and mixtapes\, burned CDs\, and early file sharing platforms allowed for the lore of an otherwise unknown band\, with a nondescript house on their lone album cover\, to grow into something much larger.\nIn 2014\, answering the call from a growing legion of dedicated fans\, American Football would reunite to\ninternational acclaim. With the addition of bassist/multi-instrumentalist and cousin Nate Kinsella\, the\nquartet has since released two additional (and equally beloved) self-titled records in 2016 and 2019\, while\nsteering a natural evolution in their evergreen sound towards post-rock\, post-punk\, and more\nexperimental influences. They’ve collaborated with admired peers and fans alike\, including Paramore’s\nHayley Williams\, Slowdive’s Rachel Goswell\, and Ethel Cain\, among others. The band has been touted\namong the most important artists of their class by the likes of Alternative Press\, The FADER\, GQ\, The\nGuardian\, NME\, NPR Music\, KEXP\, Vulture\, Rolling Stone\, and elsewhere.\nHailed as the “most influential album in the genre” by Pitchfork\, American Football spent the last two\nyears honoring its 25th anniversary of their self-titled debut – colloquially known as “LP1\,” by embarking\non a sold out world tour. In the process\, they shared a remastered edition of the landmark record\,\ncompiled an LP1 covers album by artists of mutual inspiration\, put out their first live album\, and released\na companion concert film of its recording.\nHaving recently ventured into parts of the globe for the first time\, the band has also found an\noverwhelming embrace among a new generation of fans. Many of these fans have never been to the\nAmerican Midwest\, yet have all felt that same emotional connection to its vast geography and rich\ncreative soil. As spring approaches in 2026\, so does new growth… \n\n \n\nMei Semones\nNo second-guessing\, no overthinking. The way I want to live my life is by doing the things that are important to me\, and I think everyone should live that way\,” says Mei Semones of her strengthened self-assurance. Through continuously honing in on her signature fusion of indie rock\, bossa nova\, jazz and chamber pop in a way that highlights her technical prowess on guitar\, the 24-year-old Brooklyn-based songwriter and guitarist is quickly establishing herself as an innovative musical force. Since the release of her acclaimed 2024 Kabutomushi EP\, a series of lushly orchestrated reflections on love in its many stages\, Mei has gone on to tour extensively across the US\, cultivate a dedicated following\, and write and record her highly anticipated debut album\, Animaru. Inspired by the Japanese pronunciation of the word “animal” in Japanese\, Animaru is the embodiment of Mei’s deeper trust in her instincts – a collection of musically impressive tracks that see Mei sounding more adventurous\, more vulnerable and more confident than ever before.\nMei’s newfound assertiveness comes in part from her experiences in the past year\, as 2024 was a transformative year for the Mei Semones band. They shared bills with the likes of Liana Flores\, Elephant Gym and Kara Jackson\, among others\, and Mei transitioned to doing music full-time. Amidst the frequent touring\, Mei and her five-piece band recorded the album in the summer of 2024 at Ashlawn Recording Company\, a farm studio in Connecticut operated by their friend Charles Dahlke. To these sessions\, she brought a batch of tracks that\, not unlike Kabutomushi\, are sophisticated declarations of non-romantic love: love of life (“Dumb Feeling”)\, love of family (“Zarigani”)\, love of music and her guitar (“Tora Moyo”). Animaru exemplifies Mei’s enchantingly wide range as a songwriter and musician\, including some of the most challenging and most straightforward songs Mei has ever written.\nThough her music might inherently evoke feelings of romance and softness\, the crux of the album lies in Mei and her band’s skillful balance of tension and release. Often within individual tracks\, there will be moments of pared-back acoustic guitar adorned by Mei’s infectious vocalizations that\, in a moment’s notice\, transform into orchestral swells of sweeping strings and complex guitar rhythms. Album opener “Dumb Feeling” is a prime example\, a bossa/samba blend complete with indie rock sensibilities in the choruses as Mei details her contentment with her life in New York City. Mei actively seeks out musical challenges throughout Animaru\, like on “I can do what I want\,” the album’s most technically ambitious track. But she still manages to make the quickly cascading guitar harmonics and odd meters sound like a breeze to play\, her breathy\, lilting voice cutting through the track’s energetic dynamics. It epitomizes the album as a whole – she sings of doing things her own way\, on her own terms\, in hopes of inspiring others to make the same active switch in their own lives.\nThe simpler moments on Animaru are equally as captivating as when Mei is shredding on guitar or her bandmates are carrying out an intricate arrangement. “Donguri\,” a stripped-down jazz duo performance between acoustic guitar and upright bass\, is the simplest song Mei has ever written\, brought to life by Mei sweetly chronicling (mostly in Japanese) what she imagines life would be like as a woodland creature living in the forest. The album’s penultimate track also encompasses themes relating to the titular “animaru.” Translating to “crayfish\,” the bright\, effervescent “Zarigani” is a nostalgic expression of love for her twin sister\, with Mei singing “We’ll always have each other / I love you like my guitar / I love you like no other.” Family is one of the primary loves of Mei’s life\, with her mom\, Seiko Semones\, making all of her album and single artwork. Despite Animaru being a statement of Mei’s autonomy and confidence at this\npoint in her life\, it’s the various loves that she surrounds herself with – her family\, her friends\, her band\, her music – that empower her to do things her own way.\nAnimaru\, the debut album by Mei Semones\, is out on May 2\, 2025\, on Bayonet Records.

SUMMARY:Grandaddy - 25th Anniversary of Sophtware Slump w/ The Cle Elum
DESCRIPTION:Grandaddy formed in Modesto\, CA in 1992\, with the group eventually consisting of Jason Lytle\, Aaron Burtch\, Tim Dryden\, Jim Fairchild and Kevin Garcia. The band initially broke through with 1997’s Under the Western Freeway and the NME-praised single “Summer Here Kids.” The band’s sound\,” atmospheric electronics meet warped Americana”\, crystallized on 2000’s Sophtware Slump\, which was met with breathless hype and earned the band “Next Big Thing” status. Tireless rounds of international touring and mountains of fawning press led to 2003’s Sumday\, increasing album sales\, more touring\, more press\, TV appearances\, and a slot on the main stage at the Glastonbury festival. The band produced another EP\, and an album entitled Just Like the Fambly Cat\, before disbanding in 2006. Following a brief live reunion in 2012\, Grandaddy fully returned in 2017 with Last Place\, their first album in over a decade\, which was embraced by fans and acclaimed by critics. A sold-out tour was cut short by the unexpected death of Kevin Garcia\, and all future plans were canceled indefinitely. In 2025\, Grandaddy will rise again for its first North American tour in over 20 years in celebration of the 25th Anniversary of their landmark album The Sophtware Slump. \nKGAR 4EVR \n\n \n\nThe Cle Elum\nSarah Sargent Pepper and Ian Lee — the indie rock duo behind The Cle Elum — return with new music and announce a new run of tour dates supporting indie rock mainstays Grandaddy. On March 18 the band released “Guided By Guided By Voices” the hook-packed new single and video from We Must Need It\, their sophomore LP due out this fall. \nCurrently based in Chattanooga\, Sarah Sargent Pepper (drums) and Ian Lee (vocals\, guitars\, keys) met in 2011. At that time\, Lee had logged an extensive history with rock and punk acts including Bad Oskar\, Woolworthy\, Not Rebecca\, Tom Daily\, Electric Airlines (with Ed Roser from Urge Overkill)\, and Kevin Lee (with Jon Brant from Cheap Trick)\, among others. Sargent Pepper had also spent a good number of years behind the kit and behind the scenes as a tour manager and merchandising pro. \nWith the couple finding themselves “inseparable” and a “true force of nature team\,” they devised a way to stay together on the road\, together\, they launched Affordable Tour Solutions\, a boutique tour support company. \nTheir 2024 debut\, It’s Ok If It Falls Apart (released August 16\, 2024 via Winston Sounds)\, captured a decade of touring and partnership. The album delivered hook-driven\, genre-fluid standouts like “Handclaps and Tambourines\,” “Old Folks\,” “I Am A Robot” (featuring Matthew Caws of Nada Surf)\, and “Goodbye Night Sky” (featuring Josh Caterer of The Smoking Popes)\, blending power pop energy with harmony-rich storytelling. \nFollowing US and European tours last year supporting Nada Surf\, The Cle Elum now take We Must Need It on the road. This run with Grandaddy marks the band’s biggest tour to date\, bringing their stacked harmonies and high-energy live show to new audiences.

SUMMARY:CHAOS & CARNAGE 2026 Thy Art Is Murder Carnifex
DESCRIPTION:Carnifex\nNourished by nightmares and the throbbing pulse of pragmatic terror\, CARNIFEX have returned with their ninth full-length studio album\, Necromanteum. \nWhile it may come as a surprise to some fans\, the themes of Necromanteum are a little less personal compared to previous releases. Vocalist and founder Scott Ian Lewis explains: “We wanted to delve into more supernatural and ethereal subjects like astral projection\, the duality of man\, and the crossroads of intellectualism and the supernatural… There was indeed a time when Doctors were also performing seances!” \nDecades ago\, wealthy intellectuals began installing psychomanteum in their homes; a secret room completely filled with mirrors\, or a single mirror\, and in complete darkness\, in order to speak to the dead in other dimensions\, and gain their knowledge. It was often used as a healing tool to help dissolve grief\, or considered a form of prophecy. Necromanteum presents the concept: what if you could use that kind of room to speak with death\, itself? What secrets of the world could you uncover from a direct conversation with the grim reaper? Not a monster\, but a fellow intellect. \n“This album is for the fans\,” states Lewis. “We’re always striving to give you the best version of us\, but it’s only ours until we turn it in. Then it becomes everyone else’s record. It’s a form of entertainment\, and we truly hope to help listeners break away from real life\, and have some escape into our little world through the Necromanteum .” \n\n\n \n\nBodysnatcher\n\n\n \n\n200 Stab Wounds\nCleveland death metal legends-in-waiting 200 Stab Wounds have returned with Manual Manic Procedures\, a superlative sophomore effort that follows 2021’s Slave to the Scalpel\, their tour de force debut. The new album is a brutal slab of old school death metal with a contemporary edge. Not for the faint-hearted\, Manual Manic Procedures may well be the album that puts classic gore-themed ferocity back into the metal community’s collective consciousness. \n\n\n \n\nIngested\n\nUK death metal titans Ingested have been churning out bilious anti-anthems for more than a decade and a half\, dropping a string of releases that have helped shape the genre. In 2022\, they return with Ashes Lie Still\, their most dynamic\, inventive and daring release to date\, holding nothing back\, the band describing it as “A modern essential. If you like heavy music\, it will be nigh on impossible for you to not find something you like about this record. It still has the core Ingested elements of groovy slamming riffs\, quick drumming\, and guttural vocals but there’s also atmosphere\, ethereal moments and some raw old school aggression.” Over the course of ten tracks they hack\, slash and steamroll through everything in their path\, and it easily stands as the highpoint of an already impressive career. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nGates To Hell\nForming in late 2019\, Gates To Hell aimed to fuse the finest elements from both metal and hardcore\, highlighting fast metal riffs with heavy hardcore and deathcore breakdowns written in a manner unexplored within the Kentucky music scene. The band released their first LP “Gates To Hell” in September of 2022\, where they kept to their roots while developing a sound that was uniquely theirs. \nThe response blew all expectations out of the water\, with no sign of slowing down. Gates to Hell spent most of 2023 on the road playing nearly 150 shows in 11 different countries and supported bands Dying Fetus\, The Black Dahlia Murder\, The Acacia Strain\, Despised Icon\, Sanguisugabogg\, Bodysnatcher\, 200 Stab Wounds\, Kruelty\, and Dying Wish on various tours across the US\, Canada and Europe. \nContinuing this momentum with no sign of slowing down\, the band ushered in 2024 with a new home at Nuclear Blast Records\, a pummeling new single\, and heading on the road with labelmates Machine Head and Fear Factory. \nLooking ahead to 2025\, the Louisville natives charge onto the heavy music scene with their second full-length album\, Death Comes To All\, and prepare to storm the road and spread their ferocious energy to as many new audiences as possible. The band are ready to leave concertgoers in the wake of their annihilation. Death Comes to All\, but Gates to Hell will make sure you feel it first.
