SUMMARY:Micky & the Motorcars
DESCRIPTION:A lifetime of work has gone into getting Micky and The Motorcars to the forefront of Americana Music\, which is where they currently stand. Micky and Gary Braun have been playing music their entire lives and come from a family of people that have always done the same thing. The boys’ paternal grandparents were both full-time musicians\, and their earliest memories are of watching their father play with his brothers in The Braun Brother’s Band. Later\, with four boys of his own\, their father Muzzie Braun\, formed a family Western Swing Band. The family toured the United States\, making two appearances on The Tonight Show as well as taking the stage at The Grand Ol’ Opry. This laid the ground work for what was to come. After nine years\, Micky and Gary went on to form Micky and The Motorcars while their brothers founded Reckless Kelly. Since music and family go hand in hand\, it is with this family spirit in mind that the boys continue on their path. \nFor thirteen years\, the Motorcars have been touring the US\, Europe\, and Canada releasing five studio recordings as well as taking part in the Live at Billy Bob’s Series in which they released a live CD/DVD in 2009. They have charted several Top Ten singles on the Texas Music Chart\, and had records that have spent an unprecedented seven months on the Americana Chart. Great music along with a tireless work ethic have been the two ingredients that have remained consistent since the band’s conception. The band averages over 200 shows per year and has built a dedicated following of people who appreciate great songwriting\, great singing and excellent musicianship. \nThe music of the band centers around the songwriting of Micky Braun. As a songwriter who has spent years crafting songs alone and co-writing with other songwriting greats\, Micky has emerged as one of the best writers of his generation. He also has a voice that is able to elevate his words to another level\, and the raw emotion in his delivery connects to audience members at their very core. Micky’s songs and singing are also blessed by his brother Gary’s undeniable vocal ability and guitar playing. Gary’s voice combines with Micky’s to create the unmistakable harmony that can only happen when two brothers sing together. \nThe brothers are joined by Victoria\, Texas native Dustin Schaefer on lead guitar. Dustin joined the band in 2011. Having started out listening to\, and playing along with the greats of Rock ‘n’ Roll\, Dustin soon immersed himself in the style of the telecaster country greats. The marriage of these two styles melds perfectly with the music of The Motorcars. The energy and dedication to his craft that Dustin brings to the band is evident in music and onstage. Houston native Joe Fladger signed on as the band’s bassist in December of 2011. Joe moved to Austin in 2001 and spent years playing in various bands in Austin’s fertile music scene. His sense of humor\, rock solid playing\, and dedication to the greater good of the team make him a welcome addition to the fold. The most recent addition is drummer Bobby Paugh\, from Aransas Pass\, TX in January of 2013 rounds out the band to where it is today. He brings great dynamics and professional demeanor to the table. \nPlayers play\, so the future of Micky and The Motorcars will hold countless songs\, shows\, and a dedication to their fans that is unparalleled. As their legion of followers grow and word continues to spread\, the journey of the band will continue to play out in a way that combines a dedication to music with a dedication to family.

The list goes on and on\, embracing many styles of rock over the last four decades. In short\, 57 Heavy is hard to hold to any one style\, but without doubt\, it is guitar-driven\, riff-heavy rock that sounds both classic yet right in time with the music of today. \nFormed in 2006\, 57 Heavy is fronted by singer/guitarist Shane Horsley\, with Steve Theisen on bass\, Matt Fisher on guitar and Jeff Bartkowski on drums. Whether as individuals or as a group\, they have performed on stages from their hometown hotspots to Hollywood clubs\, music festivals\, and as far as Europe\, having shared a stage with several regional\, national and international touring acts and performed at events with more than 12\,000 people to entertain.  \nBy 2011\, the band’s hard work\, dedication and undying fan loyalty had a big payoff. 57 Heavy was honored by being the winner of the Ninkasi Brewing / 100.3 The X ‘Last Band Standing’ competition\, as well as awarded a recording deal with Topsecret Records and the opener for the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival at the Idaho Center Amphitheater\, where 9\,000 were in attendance. Other highlights includes opening for top touring bands such as the Legendary Steven Adler’s band ‘Adler’s Appetite’ and arena rockers\, Def Leppard. Instead\, Willett took a rare pandemic-era breather to really contemplate what a Cold War Kids album could\, and should\, sound like in 2023\, and how to infuse the material with meaningful discourse about his life specifically and the state of the world more broadly. Clearly\, it was worth the wait: the aptly self-titled result is perhaps the strongest and most well-rounded full-length in the long-running California band’s ample catalog\, and the purest possible distillation of Cold War Kids’ nearly 20-year career. \nHOVVDY\nLast year\, Charlie Martin impulsively wrote T-R-U-E L-O-V-E in all caps across the top of what would become the title track of his and Will Taylor’s fourth Hovvdy album. The on-the-nose instinct encapsulates the LP’s elemental look at relationships – familial\, romantic\, friendly – and that desire to capture them in a bottle. Since the creation of their last album\, both Charlie and Will have married their partners. Will became a father.
