SUMMARY:Boise Phil Presents IN NATURE'S REALM
DESCRIPTION:BOISE PHIL PRESENTS\, IN NATURE’S REALM\nfeaturing guest artist\, Janice Carissa\, piano \nCome revel in the vitality of three cornerstone works of the Romantic period. \nColeridge-Taylor’s “Ballade” is an arresting piece that reflects the melodic and harmonic influences of Tchaikovsky and Dvořák. You’ll experience this piece as talented young musicians from the Boise Philharmonic Youth Orchestra take the stage alongside our professional musicians for an exceptional side-by-side performance. \nLiszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 is a groundbreaking piece in the history of piano composition. Composed during Liszt’s ‘virtuoso years\,’ this work serves as an inspirational showcase for our guest artists. \nComposed simultaneously with the brooding Fifth Symphony\, Beethoven’s Sixth Symphony is characterized by the balance of serenity and brightness. Beethoven gave it the title “Pastoral Symphony\, or Recollections of Country Life\,” reflecting his strong connection to nature. He drew inspiration from his frequent walks in the Viennese countryside. This remarkable masterpiece signifies a sense of communion with humanity as much as it does with nature. \nCOLERIDGE-TAYLOR\nBallade\, Op 33\nwith BPYO Seniors \nLISZT\nPiano Concerto No. 1\nwith Janice Carissa\, piano \nBEETHOVEN\nSymphony No. 6 (Pastorale) \n\nPRE-CONCERT TALK\nJoin Musicologist Bradley Berg and Music Director Eric Garcia (and special guests) as they guide you through the music you are about to hear\, providing an enlightening look at the repertoire and composers before the performance begins.
