SUMMARY:Emo Nite
DESCRIPTION:Not a band. Not DJ’s. We throw parties for the music we love. \nAs Rolling Stone observed a few years ago\, “Emo Nite Vindicated the Scene.” \nSince they threw their first party at an East L.A. dive bar\, Morgan Freed and T.J. Petracca\, and a dedicated crew of regular attendees\, built Emo Nite into a phenomenon. Top-tier emo artists\, old and new\, curate playlists and perform\, with guest lists boasting members of blink-182\, All Time Low\, Dashboard Confessional\, The Maine\, and Good Charlotte. Scene-friendly pop culture mavericks often participate\, like past attendees Post Malone\, Demi Lovato\, Machine Gun Kelly\, and Skrillex. \nIt’s all too easy to forget that before the first Emo Nite in December 2014\, “emo” was a joke. \nSomehow on its journey from a melodic post-hardcore subgenre\, built on earnest emotional expression\, to a mainstream moniker assigned to anything remotely angsty\, “emo” became a dirty word. Despite the positive impact ushered in by waves of bands\, from the crucial “Revolution Summer” and Sunny Day Real Estate through Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance\, accepting “emo” as a dismissive designation or identity invited polite embarrassment and even scorn. \nBut Freed and Petracca grew up loving the music associated with emo and the people like them who similarly embraced outsider art and subculture\, regardless of changing fashions or pretentious snobbery. Petracca told The New Yorker the idea behind the first Emo Nite celebration was to center a happy\, communal experience on the music they once listened to when they were upset and alone. \n“I sang Dashboard Confessional at karaoke at a friend’s birthday party and thought it was super fun to go out with friends and listen to music we actually liked\,” recalls Petracca\, who met Freed when the pair worked at a creative agency together. “Every other club in LA played EDM\, Top 40\, or hip-hop. We always found ourselves pre-gaming with emo and pop-punk music before we went out.” \nFreed knew a bartender at the Short Stop in Echo Park and convinced him to let them throw a party on a random\, rainy Tuesday. They invited friends via Facebook; double the bar’s capacity turned up. “We decided to see how far we could take it\,” Petracca says. “‘Who would be the craziest guest?’ We invited Mark Hoppus\, and he came! He did our first one at Echoplex\, which was our third party ever.” \n“There’s no disconnect between the artist and fan\,” Freed points out. “I think that’s brought people closer to the music. It created a really strong sense of community\, at a time when emo wasn’t ‘cool.’” \nThere may be a surprise acoustic set or even a full-band performance\, but ultimately\, it’s about the experience. Emo Nite turned a party into a community\, reclaiming the spirit of how the scene began. \nIt’s now a recurring event thrown by dozens of friends in over 30 cities in the United States. Emo Nite runs full-day festivals and curates coveted performance spots at Coachella\, Life is Beautiful\, and Firefly. Freed and Petracca launched successful clothing collaborations with brands like OBEY\, Urban Outfitters\, PLEASURES\, The Hundreds\, Rose in Good Faith\, Market\, and OWSLA. \n“A larger promoter told us the shelf life of a club night in Los Angeles was two years\,” Freed says\, marveling at Emo Nite’s staying power. “A hundred percent of it is the people that go to it. This music makes people feel connected. The energy of it is so special. You get a group of people together who look different\, but they have this thing in common. We started seeing friend groups form really\, really quickly. People met their significant others at these events. The community really trusts each other.” \n“Emo Nite LA has become an essential gathering point for fans of emo\, pop-punk\, and related styles\,” Rolling Stone noted. \nIn October 2021\, Emo Nite’s founders threw Emo Nite Vegas Vacation\, a three-day event headlined by Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly\, with Sleeping With Sirens\, MOD SUN\, 3OH!3\, and more. \n“What Emo Nite does better than any of their competitors is they make ‘emo culture’ feel both nostalgic and brand new\,” The Summer Set’s Brian Logan Dales told Forbes\, in a profile which included professions of love from members of Papa Roach\, Underoath\, and State Champs. “You can go to an Emo Nite with your best friends and sing along to old songs you grew up with\, and at the same time\, discover a brand-new artist who’s making music today because they grew up on that very same music as you. They’ve taken the emo of the past and helped it forge a new path for the future.” \nAs emo reenters popular culture with a blend of adoring nostalgia and optimistic forward- thinking\, Emo Nite remains an authentic space to celebrate diversity\, experience passionate catharsis\, and champion authentic expression. Emo Nite isn’t a band or a DJ crew. It’s an idea\, one as simple as the urge to throw a party for a beloved style of music. Often imitated but never truly duplicated\, Emo Nite’s founders and supporters are fond of saying\, “If you don’t see the grave\, it ain’t our rave.” \n“There’s a lot of ownership from our community of the event itself and the Emo Nite brand\,” Petracca says. “It’s about breaking down that barrier of ‘Look at me\, it’s all about me.’ No\, it’s about us\, together\, in this room. It belongs to every single person that comes through the door.”\nThe co-founders continue to look ahead. “Emo Nite definitely impacted culture\,” Freed notes. “But we have no plans to stop changing the way we view the evolution and expansion of the genre.”

SUMMARY:Digable Planets w/ The Soul Rebels
DESCRIPTION:Digable Planets burst onto the music scene in 1993 with their Grammy-winning single\, “Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat)”. Made up of Ishmael Butler (“Butterfly”)\, Craig Irving (“Doodlebug”) andmMary Ann Vieira (“Ladybug Mecca”)\, the trio carved out a unique style of jazz-informed Hip Hop. Shortly after\, Digable Planets followed up with their debut album\, Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time And Space)\, an ambitious offering that Pitchfork praised as “a world within a world\, complete with its own language and monuments.” The group celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Reachin’ in 2023. \nMelding Jazz samples\, and complex rhymes that touched on everything from the nuances of city life (Where I’m From) to abortion rights (La Femme Fetal)\, Reachin’ was a rich and vibrant artistic statement as well as a huge commercial success (RIAA certified gold). Digable Planets immediately followed up with Blowout Comb\, a bold and colorful meditation on Black liberation. While the album did not initially reach the immediate commercial successes of Reachin’\, the album has aged beautifully\, influencing future generations of Hip Hop heads\, young Jazz musicians and Afrofuturists. The trio spent the 2000s establishing their own individual creative voices with Butler’s Cherrywine and Shabazz Palaces projects\, Mecca’s work with BROOKZILL! and Irving as “Cee Knowledge” leading Cee Knowledge & The Cosmic Funk Orchestra.\nIn 2015\, the group embarked upon a string of wildly successful live shows and has been very active as a tight touring unit ever since. In 2017\, they released Digable Planets Live\, a live album that showcases many gems from the group’s catalog as well as the trio’s skill at rocking the crowd with a live band. A pioneering act that continues to cast a wide-ranging\, genre-bending influence\, Digable Planets have left an indelible mark on music. More than 30 years after their debut\, their music still shines\, and the iconic group continues to bring their celebrated stage show to excited crowds around the world. \n\n \n\nThe Soul Rebels\n\nThe Soul Rebels are riding high in 2019\, receiving national attention for recent performances with Katy Perry and DMX\, and featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk series and a debut late night TV appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The band continues to expand its international reach touring four continents including Europe\, Australia\, China\, South Korea and Japan. Their explosive stage presence has led to live collaborations with Nas\, G-Eazy\, Robin Thicke\, Macy Gray\, Portugal. The Man\, Robert Glasper\, Pretty Lights\, Curren$y\, Joey Bada$$\, Talib Kweli\, GZA\, Macklemore\, GZA\, Metallica\, and Marilyn Manson among others. \nThe Soul Rebels started with an idea- to expand upon the pop music they loved on the radio and the New Orleans brass tradition they grew up on. They took that tradition and blended funk and soul with elements of hip hop\, jazz and pop all within a brass band context. The band has built a career around an eclectic live show that harnesses the power of horns & drums in a deeply funky party-like atmosphere. The Soul Rebels continue to chart new territory as they feature in major films\, tour globally\, and combine topnotch musicianship with songs that celebrate dancing\, life\, funk and soul. \nMost recently The Soul Rebels wrapped up recording for their upcoming fall 2019 album\, Poetry in Motion. The album will put the band front and center and showcase the wide breadth of musical genres and collaborations that have come to identify the musically chameleon-like band.

SUMMARY:C.J. Chenier & The Red Hot Louisiana Band
DESCRIPTION:Clayton Joseph Chenier is Creole music royalty. His father\, the legendary Clifton Chenier\, invented the style of music we know today as Zydeco and was the first Creole musician to be recognized with a Grammy Award. \nRaised in this indigenous American culture with its’ own distinctive language\, cuisine and music\, C.J. delivers soulful vocals along with jaw-dropping masterful accordion-driven Rock\, Zydeco and Blues. \nAfter spending his childhood in the tough tenement housing projects of Port Arthur\, Texas\, C.J. joined his Father’s band on his 21st birthday. His first gig was playing for the opening of the now world-renown Antone’s\, Home of the Blues Nightclub in Austin\, Texas. \nOn the road his father showed him how to front a world class touring band\, teaching C.J.\, a multi-instrumentalist\, how to run the family business and how to develop his lifelong passion for music into a career. When Clifton died in 1987 his son\, C.J.\, adopted the Red Hot Louisiana Band and recorded his debut album for the great American independent label Arhoolie Records. \nChenier (along with Ringo Starr) was hand-picked by Paul Simon for his 1990 Rhythm of the Saints album which was nominated for Album of the Year and Producer of the Year. He was then invited to go with Simon for his sell out “Born at the Right Time Tour”. \nC.J.\, who started his career with his father\, Clifton Chenier\, has also played with John Mayall\, The Gin Blossoms\, Ray Parker\, Jr.\, Joe Sample\, Jimmie Vaughan\, Sonny Landreth and Buckwheat Zydeco. He has appeared on The Jon Stewart Show and been featured on CNN. He has performed at numerous music festivals around the world and is a consistent crowd pleaser for The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. \nAttending a C.J. Chenier show is a transformative experience. You may come in tired and beat up just from living in this world – but you will leave renewed and happy. And that is the promise C.J. makes\, “You can’t come to my show and stay unhappy. You’re going to break a smile before too long. This is happy music.” \nC.J. performs with The Red Hot Louisiana Band as a Zydeco/Blues and Jam Band. \nHe has a moving and dynamic solo storytelling and musical show outlining the history of the Chenier involvement in Zydeco music. And he has a children’s show which is perfect for museums\, schools\, Performing Centers and more.

Armed with his Spanish guitar and a stage full of musicians and elaborately choreographed dancers\, Benise takes the audience on a musical journey through Spanish Flamenco\, Cuban Salsa\, Brazilian Samba\, Parisian Waltz\, exotic drumming\, and more!\n\nThe 25th Anniversary tour establishes Benise’s Emmy Award winning show as one of the longest running global Latin-themed theatrical productions.\n\nFor Benise\, music has always been a journey. From his humble beginnings as a street performer\, to being featured on the #1 rated show in the USA – Dancing With The Stars. Guitarist and creative force behind the event\, Benise\, comments “I wanted to push the boundaries of Nuevo Flamenco/Spanish guitar while combining the elements of dance and theater. SUMMARY:Oliver Anthony Music Live
DESCRIPTION:Oliver Anthony\n\n \n\nChris Lunsford (Oliver Anthony Music)\nSinger-Songwriter \nChris Lunsford\, known professionally by his grandfather’s name\, Oliver Anthony\, rose to prominence in 2023 with his breakout hit\, Rich Men North of Richmond. The song\, a powerful critique of government policies and the struggles of working-class Americans\, quickly became a cultural phenomenon. It made history by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and has since amassed over 486 million streams on Spotify alone. Chris also became the first living male songwriter to have 13 songs chart simultaneously on Billboard’s Top 50 Digital Song Sales. In addition\, he reached the No. 1 spot on the U.S. iTunes chart and topped both Spotify and Apple Music rankings in the United States. \nWith his raw\, soulful vocals and a sound deeply rooted in Americana and folk traditions\, Oliver Anthony captures the realities of economic hardship\, disillusionment\, and the resilience of small-town communities. His music resonates with those often unheard in mainstream discourse\, earning him widespread acclaim and multiple chart-topping hits. Among them\, Ain’t Got a Dollar reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 list\, further cementing his place as a rising force in country and folk music. \nIn 2024\, Oliver Anthony released his highly anticipated debut studio album\, Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind\, produced by Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb. The album\, praised for its homespun authenticity\, delves into themes of childhood nostalgia\, the struggles of adulthood\, and a worldview that extends beyond politics. \nDespite his rapid rise to fame\, Oliver Anthony remains deeply connected to his roots\, using his platform to give voice to rural America’s hardships and triumphs. His music serves as a reflection of working-class resilience and a testament to the enduring power of storytelling through song. \nFor more information on new music and a full list of upcoming tour dates\, visit www.oliveranthonymusic.com.

Since first introducing the world to her larger-than-life talent\, the multi-award-winning festival headliner has built a triumphant career whose latest milestones include earning a Grammy nomination for Death Wish Blues (her 2023 collaboration with rocker Jesse Dayton) and opening for The Rolling Stones on their final 2024 U.S. tour date. On her new album Paper Doll\, Fish offers up nine powerhouse songs that hit with an unstoppable force\, each delivered with an exquisite dose of illuminating insight\, soul-soothing empathy\, and—above all—newly heightened clarity of vision. “It’s taken me years to finally find my voice in a studio setting\,” Fish admits. “But with this record I took everything I had\, and slammed it right on the table.”    \nFish’s first-ever album recorded with her touring band\, Paper Doll takes its title from the first song the Kansas City-bred musician penned for the LP: a raw yet reflective battle cry that perfectly encapsulates the album’s spirit of unapologetic defiance. “That song’s a feminist anthem in a way—but then again\, every song’s a feminist anthem when you’re a woman writing from your own experience\,” says Fish. “It’s about rebelling against other people’s expectations of who you’re supposed to be\, which feels pretty relevant for the times we’re living in right now.” \nRecorded at The Orb in Austin and Savannah Studios in L.A.\, Paper Doll marks the latest entry in an uncompromising and endlessly adventurous catalog that’s found her working with luminaries like Jon Spencer of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion as well as Luther Dickinson (co-founder of North Mississippi Allstars and former member of the Black Crowes). This time around\, Fish reunited with Detroit garage-rock icon Bobby Harlow\, who also produced her 2017 LP Chills & Fever. “When I look back on Chills & Fever I realize that Bobby was pushing me into some cool and dangerous places\, but at that phase in my life I was holding back a bit\,” she says. “Now I’m at a point where I’m ready to give people something totally unexpected\, something that breaks the pop formula and really takes its time to tell a story with the guitar playing.” \nFor help in shaping Paper Doll’s magnificently rowdy but nuanced sound\, Fish joined forces with bandmates Ron Johnson (bass)\, Jamie Douglass (drums)\, and Mickey Finn (keys)\, cutting most of the album in the midst of a grueling touring schedule that included a run of dates with Slash on the legendary guitarist’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T. festival in summer 2024. “I’d never made a record on the road like that\,” Fish reveals. “Even though it was so intense\, it felt good to keep up the momentum from the live show. It helped us make an album that’s got a real living\, breathing pulse to it.” \nA potent balance of catharsis and introspection\, boldness and vulnerability\, Paper Doll opens on the sublimely moody riffs of “I’m Done Runnin’”—an exhilarating statement of self-reliance\, expressed with unshakable self-possession (from the bridge: “When I look in the mirror\, staring at the unknown/The world’s not getting clearer\, but I like where I’m goin’”). “It’s about pushing forward even when life knocks you down\, because you know what you want\,” Fish explains. One of several songs partly composed with her longtime co-writer Jim McCormick (a multi-platinum hitmaker whose credits also include Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw)\, “I’m Done Runnin’” draws much of its impact from Fish’s deepened confidence in her vocal prowess. “Singing live onstage is one thing\, but learning how to bring that energy into the studio is a whole different beast\,” she points out. \nAnother track steeped in fiery attitude and hard-won self-assurance\, “Lose You” kicks into a breakneck pace as Fish confronts a noncommittal paramour\, adorning her takedown with a blazing guitar solo and the beguiling harmonies of backup singers D. Scaife\, Keo\, and Gabbi Beauvais. “It’s a song about taking control and calling the shots in a relationship\,” says Fish. “It’s my way of saying\, ‘I’m on fire and you’re not\, so what are you gonna do about it?’” Later\, on the wildly fun “Rusty Razor\,” Paper Doll goes scorched earth with a brutally catchy tirade against life’s infinite injustices\, amping up the track’s pure punk exuberance with the help of guest vocalist Mick Collins (co-founder of seminal Detroit bands The Gories and The Dirtbombs). “The older you get\, the more you can become numb to all the bad shit that happens in life—whether it’s friends passing away before their time\, or working so hard and never getting to where you want to be\,” says Fish. “But the truth is\, we should never get used to our hearts being broken like that.” \nAlthough a feverish intensity fuels much of Paper Doll\, the album drifts into a dreamlike languor on songs like “Fortune Teller” (a psych-blues slow-burner driven by a particularly spellbinding vocal turn from Fish). Meanwhile\, “Sweet Southern Sounds” unfolds in smoldering riffs and lush organ melodies\, ultimately taking the form of a soul-searching epic that turns gloriously frenetic in its final moments. Co-written with fellow New Orleans-based singer/songwriter Anders Osborne\, the result is a gripping meditation on a tension all too familiar to those fiercely devoted to their passion. “It’s an anthem about being on the road and feeling guilty about not prioritizing the people in your life\,” says Fish. “It’s hard to find that balance between taking care of your relationships and dedicating yourself to your music\, and there’s definitely a tinge of heartache to that song.” \nA consummate music obsessive who lists such eclectic artists as Prince\, Leonard Cohen\, and Black Sabbath among her influences\, Fish found herself especially fascinated with Delta blues heroes like Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside in the writing of Paper Doll. “I love how in a lot of Mississippi Hill Country blues there’s a drone that happens on the low notes and keeps you hypnotized throughout the song\,” she says. “A lot of the guitar work on this record is inspired by that style of playing—and then from there it explodes in all different directions\, from rock & roll to soul to pop.” In sculpting such an expansive body of work\, Fish found an ideal creative partner in Harlow\, who also co-wrote a number of songs on Paper Doll. “I can be a perfectionist when it comes to recording\, and it was cool to have Bobby around to stop from me trying to robotically hit the exact note over and over\,” she says. And as a born performer who got her start by thumbing through the phone book and cold-calling local bars for gigs in her mid-teens\, Fish crafted every song on Paper Doll with an eye toward her incendiary live show. “The main goal is to make great songs that tap into whatever I’m feeling at the moment\, but at the same time I’m asking\, ‘How is this going to feel live?’” she says. “I’m always thinking about how to add to our arsenal of songs and put together an amazing show for when we’re back out on the road.” \nArguably her most accomplished work to date\, Paper Doll emerged from Fish’s deliberate embracing of the ineffable musical gifts she’s cultivated almost her entire life. “When we started working on this record I asked myself\, ‘What are my superpowers?’ I wanted to lean into my strengths in a way I never completely had before\, to make a big guitar album with some epic performances and really sing my ass off\,” she says. “I ended up pouring so much emotion into all the songs\, and I hope they help people feel fired up and ready to take on anything that comes their way. I’d love for this record to be somebody’s jet fuel.”
