All members of Pigs on the Wing are seasoned veterans of the Pacific NW rock scene and are unapologetic in bringing their wide-ranging musical influences to the table. Setting the band aside from other tribute-rock acts\, Pigs on the Wing balance a decidedly un-tribute-like attitude towards the music with the precision and authenticity expected by Pink Floyd fans. \nPigs on the Wing has toured relentlessly throughout the Western US and in recent years featured full album performances of The Dark Side of the Moon\, Wish Y ou Were Here\, Animals\, and The Wall. DESCRIPTION:New York psych-pop band Crumb return with AMAMA\, their most carefree and open-hearted album to date. A soundscape full of playful and patchwork experimentation — glitchy pitch-shifted vocals\, cell phone recordings\, nautical blips\, sax mouthpiece solos\, blasted drum samples\, and piano strings dampened with Silly Putty — AMAMA continues to deepen the band’s hypnotic sound in a cohesive line back through 2021’s Ice Melt\, 2019’s Jinx\, and breakout EPs Locket and Crumb. Without a doubt\, AMAMA is Crumb — singer and multi-instrumentalist Lila Ramani\, keyboardist and saxophonist Bri Aronow\, bassist Jesse Brotter\, and drummer Jonathan Gilad — at their most animated. \nBuoyed by Ramani’s songwriting\, at turns poetically abstract and directly confessional\, AMAMA culls the strange encounters from Crumb’s touring years\, tracing the dizzying path of a group that’s been in movement for nearly a decade. “Crushxd” is an ecstatic requiem for a turtle flattened under the tires of a tour van; “(Alone in) Brussels” finds Ramani in forced isolation in a distant city. On “The Bug\,” we’re at a pit stop in a seedy motel\, where a critter’s bite leaves a nagging feeling: “It’s always on my mind / it’s just always on my mind\,” Ramani repeats over a creeping groove as she wanders the place at night. On “Side by Side\,” perhaps the most candid track on AMAMA\, frenetic percussion and disorienting\, layered synth envelop Ramani as she considers the personal sacrifices she’s made along the way. \nEven as it explores transient stops and fraught encounters\, AMAMA features some of Crumb’s most vulnerable\, tender searches for organic connection. “Home is what I want and what I need\,” Ramani sings on the clear-sighted opener\, “From Outside a Window Sill”—which samples a police radio scan about a flock of geese crossing a bridge in Gowanus\, Brooklyn\, where Ramani grew up. The title track\, “AMAMA\,” is an upbeat and hopeful homage to Ramani’s grandmother\, her namesake\, who sings in Malayalam in the opening sample. The two voices\, Lila’s and Leela’s\, separated by language and place\, intertwine as if on a spotty long-distance call in what is the most direct love song of Crumb’s repertoire. On the album’s closer\, “XXX\,” laden with distorted\, industrial sounds\, we finally find respite—a house shared between two lovers\, a safe place. In the last moments\, Ramani asks: “Isn’t this as good as it can get?” \nAMAMA exists at the crossroads of psychedelia\, pop\, jazz\, and rock\, and cements Crumb as a band uniquely their own. Released independently on Crumb Records and produced alongside Johnscott Sanford and Jonathan Rado in Los Angeles\, AMAMA is an incandescent statement about searching for solid ground\, connection\, and clarity in a life of nomadic upheaval. \n\n \n\nDiscovery Zone\nDiscovery Zone is the experimental pop project of New York / Berlin musician and multimedia artist JJ Weihl. After the slow-building but undeniable fervor around her debut album Remote Control\, Discovery Zone announced her second album Quantum Web due out March 8th via RVNG Intl. and Mansions and Millions (GSA). Inspired by the omnipresence of advertising and corporate culture as much as the potential of cybernetics and neural networks\, Discovery Zone plunges into an uncanny valley with Quantum Web\, where the distinctions between the earnest and the ironic blur in tandem with the border between the human and the post-human. Discovery Zone explores a widescreen pop sound speckled with luminous vocal performances and baroque instrumental flourishes. On stage\, she utilizes a laboratory of instruments and 3D visuals to explore the universe as a source of information

DESCRIPTION:Not a band. Not DJ’s. We throw parties for the music we love. \nAs Rolling Stone observed a few years ago\, “Emo Nite Vindicated the Scene.” \nSince they threw their first party at an East L.A. dive bar\, Morgan Freed and T.J. Petracca\, and a dedicated crew of regular attendees\, built Emo Nite into a phenomenon. Top-tier emo artists\, old and new\, curate playlists and perform\, with guest lists boasting members of blink-182\, All Time Low\, Dashboard Confessional\, The Maine\, and Good Charlotte. Scene-friendly pop culture mavericks often participate\, like past attendees Post Malone\, Demi Lovato\, Machine Gun Kelly\, and Skrillex. \nIt’s all too easy to forget that before the first Emo Nite in December 2014\, “emo” was a joke. \nSomehow on its journey from a melodic post-hardcore subgenre\, built on earnest emotional expression\, to a mainstream moniker assigned to anything remotely angsty\, “emo” became a dirty word. Despite the positive impact ushered in by waves of bands\, from the crucial “Revolution Summer” and Sunny Day Real Estate through Taking Back Sunday and My Chemical Romance\, accepting “emo” as a dismissive designation or identity invited polite embarrassment and even scorn. \nBut Freed and Petracca grew up loving the music associated with emo and the people like them who similarly embraced outsider art and subculture\, regardless of changing fashions or pretentious snobbery. Petracca told The New Yorker the idea behind the first Emo Nite celebration was to center a happy\, communal experience on the music they once listened to when they were upset and alone. \n“I sang Dashboard Confessional at karaoke at a friend’s birthday party and thought it was super fun to go out with friends and listen to music we actually liked\,” recalls Petracca\, who met Freed when the pair worked at a creative agency together. “Every other club in LA played EDM\, Top 40\, or hip-hop. We always found ourselves pre-gaming with emo and pop-punk music before we went out.” \nFreed knew a bartender at the Short Stop in Echo Park and convinced him to let them throw a party on a random\, rainy Tuesday. They invited friends via Facebook; double the bar’s capacity turned up. “We decided to see how far we could take it\,” Petracca says. “‘Who would be the craziest guest?’ We invited Mark Hoppus\, and he came! He did our first one at Echoplex\, which was our third party ever.” \n“There’s no disconnect between the artist and fan\,” Freed points out. “I think that’s brought people closer to the music. It created a really strong sense of community\, at a time when emo wasn’t ‘cool.’” \nThere may be a surprise acoustic set or even a full-band performance\, but ultimately\, it’s about the experience. Emo Nite turned a party into a community\, reclaiming the spirit of how the scene began. \nIt’s now a recurring event thrown by dozens of friends in over 30 cities in the United States. Emo Nite runs full-day festivals and curates coveted performance spots at Coachella\, Life is Beautiful\, and Firefly. Freed and Petracca launched successful clothing collaborations with brands like OBEY\, Urban Outfitters\, PLEASURES\, The Hundreds\, Rose in Good Faith\, Market\, and OWSLA. \n“A larger promoter told us the shelf life of a club night in Los Angeles was two years\,” Freed says\, marveling at Emo Nite’s staying power. “A hundred percent of it is the people that go to it. This music makes people feel connected. The energy of it is so special. You get a group of people together who look different\, but they have this thing in common. We started seeing friend groups form really\, really quickly. People met their significant others at these events. The community really trusts each other.” \n“Emo Nite LA has become an essential gathering point for fans of emo\, pop-punk\, and related styles\,” Rolling Stone noted. \nIn October 2021\, Emo Nite’s founders threw Emo Nite Vegas Vacation\, a three-day event headlined by Avril Lavigne and Machine Gun Kelly\, with Sleeping With Sirens\, MOD SUN\, 3OH!3\, and more. \n“What Emo Nite does better than any of their competitors is they make ‘emo culture’ feel both nostalgic and brand new\,” The Summer Set’s Brian Logan Dales told Forbes\, in a profile which included professions of love from members of Papa Roach\, Underoath\, and State Champs. “You can go to an Emo Nite with your best friends and sing along to old songs you grew up with\, and at the same time\, discover a brand-new artist who’s making music today because they grew up on that very same music as you. They’ve taken the emo of the past and helped it forge a new path for the future.” \nAs emo reenters popular culture with a blend of adoring nostalgia and optimistic forward- thinking\, Emo Nite remains an authentic space to celebrate diversity\, experience passionate catharsis\, and champion authentic expression. Emo Nite isn’t a band or a DJ crew. It’s an idea\, one as simple as the urge to throw a party for a beloved style of music. DESCRIPTION:Digable Planets burst onto the music scene in 1993 with their Grammy-winning single\, “Rebirth Of Slick (Cool Like Dat)”. Made up of Ishmael Butler (“Butterfly”)\, Craig Irving (“Doodlebug”) andmMary Ann Vieira (“Ladybug Mecca”)\, the trio carved out a unique style of jazz-informed Hip Hop. Shortly after\, Digable Planets followed up with their debut album\, Reachin’ (A New Refutation of Time And Space)\, an ambitious offering that Pitchfork praised as “a world within a world\, complete with its own language and monuments.” The group celebrates the 30th Anniversary of Reachin’ in 2023. \nMelding Jazz samples\, and complex rhymes that touched on everything from the nuances of city life (Where I’m From) to abortion rights (La Femme Fetal)\, Reachin’ was a rich and vibrant artistic statement as well as a huge commercial success (RIAA certified gold). Digable Planets immediately followed up with Blowout Comb\, a bold and colorful meditation on Black liberation. While the album did not initially reach the immediate commercial successes of Reachin’\, the album has aged beautifully\, influencing future generations of Hip Hop heads\, young Jazz musicians and Afrofuturists. The trio spent the 2000s establishing their own individual creative voices with Butler’s Cherrywine and Shabazz Palaces projects\, Mecca’s work with BROOKZILL! and Irving as “Cee Knowledge” leading Cee Knowledge & The Cosmic Funk Orchestra.\nIn 2015\, the group embarked upon a string of wildly successful live shows and has been very active as a tight touring unit ever since. In 2017\, they released Digable Planets Live\, a live album that showcases many gems from the group’s catalog as well as the trio’s skill at rocking the crowd with a live band. A pioneering act that continues to cast a wide-ranging\, genre-bending influence\, Digable Planets have left an indelible mark on music. More than 30 years after their debut\, their music still shines\, and the iconic group continues to bring their celebrated stage show to excited crowds around the world. \n\n \n\nThe Soul Rebels\n\nThe Soul Rebels are riding high in 2019\, receiving national attention for recent performances with Katy Perry and DMX\, and featured on NPR’s Tiny Desk series and a debut late night TV appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The band continues to expand its international reach touring four continents including Europe\, Australia\, China\, South Korea and Japan. Their explosive stage presence has led to live collaborations with Nas\, G-Eazy\, Robin Thicke\, Macy Gray\, Portugal. DESCRIPTION:Clayton Joseph Chenier is Creole music royalty. His father\, the legendary Clifton Chenier\, invented the style of music we know today as Zydeco and was the first Creole musician to be recognized with a Grammy Award. \nRaised in this indigenous American culture with its’ own distinctive language\, cuisine and music\, C.J. delivers soulful vocals along with jaw-dropping masterful accordion-driven Rock\, Zydeco and Blues. \nAfter spending his childhood in the tough tenement housing projects of Port Arthur\, Texas\, C.J. joined his Father’s band on his 21st birthday. His first gig was playing for the opening of the now world-renown Antone’s\, Home of the Blues Nightclub in Austin\, Texas. \nOn the road his father showed him how to front a world class touring band\, teaching C.J.\, a multi-instrumentalist\, how to run the family business and how to develop his lifelong passion for music into a career. When Clifton died in 1987 his son\, C.J.\, adopted the Red Hot Louisiana Band and recorded his debut album for the great American independent label Arhoolie Records. \nChenier (along with Ringo Starr) was hand-picked by Paul Simon for his 1990 Rhythm of the Saints album which was nominated for Album of the Year and Producer of the Year. He was then invited to go with Simon for his sell out “Born at the Right Time Tour”. \nC.J.\, who started his career with his father\, Clifton Chenier\, has also played with John Mayall\, The Gin Blossoms\, Ray Parker\, Jr.\, Joe Sample\, Jimmie Vaughan\, Sonny Landreth and Buckwheat Zydeco. He has appeared on The Jon Stewart Show and been featured on CNN. He has performed at numerous music festivals around the world and is a consistent crowd pleaser for The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. \nAttending a C.J. Chenier show is a transformative experience. You may come in tired and beat up just from living in this world – but you will leave renewed and happy.
