SUMMARY:Oliver Anthony Music Live
DESCRIPTION:Oliver Anthony\n\n \n\nChris Lunsford (Oliver Anthony Music)\nSinger-Songwriter \nChris Lunsford\, known professionally by his grandfather’s name\, Oliver Anthony\, rose to prominence in 2023 with his breakout hit\, Rich Men North of Richmond. The song\, a powerful critique of government policies and the struggles of working-class Americans\, quickly became a cultural phenomenon. It made history by debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard charts and has since amassed over 486 million streams on Spotify alone. Chris also became the first living male songwriter to have 13 songs chart simultaneously on Billboard’s Top 50 Digital Song Sales. In addition\, he reached the No. 1 spot on the U.S. iTunes chart and topped both Spotify and Apple Music rankings in the United States. \nWith his raw\, soulful vocals and a sound deeply rooted in Americana and folk traditions\, Oliver Anthony captures the realities of economic hardship\, disillusionment\, and the resilience of small-town communities. His music resonates with those often unheard in mainstream discourse\, earning him widespread acclaim and multiple chart-topping hits. Among them\, Ain’t Got a Dollar reached No. 1 on Spotify’s Viral 50 list\, further cementing his place as a rising force in country and folk music. \nIn 2024\, Oliver Anthony released his highly anticipated debut studio album\, Hymnal of a Troubled Man’s Mind\, produced by Grammy-winning producer Dave Cobb. The album\, praised for its homespun authenticity\, delves into themes of childhood nostalgia\, the struggles of adulthood\, and a worldview that extends beyond politics. \nDespite his rapid rise to fame\, Oliver Anthony remains deeply connected to his roots\, using his platform to give voice to rural America’s hardships and triumphs. His music serves as a reflection of working-class resilience and a testament to the enduring power of storytelling through song. \nFor more information on new music and a full list of upcoming tour dates\, visit www.oliveranthonymusic.com.

SUMMARY:Samantha Fish - Paper Doll World Tour
DESCRIPTION:One of the most formidable guitarists of her generation\, Samantha Fish deals in her own unmatched brand of bravado\, bringing both mind-blowing power and extraordinary emotionality to everything she creates. Since first introducing the world to her larger-than-life talent\, the multi-award-winning festival headliner has built a triumphant career whose latest milestones include earning a Grammy nomination for Death Wish Blues (her 2023 collaboration with rocker Jesse Dayton) and opening for The Rolling Stones on their final 2024 U.S. tour date. On her new album Paper Doll\, Fish offers up nine powerhouse songs that hit with an unstoppable force\, each delivered with an exquisite dose of illuminating insight\, soul-soothing empathy\, and—above all—newly heightened clarity of vision. “It’s taken me years to finally find my voice in a studio setting\,” Fish admits. “But with this record I took everything I had\, and slammed it right on the table.”    \nFish’s first-ever album recorded with her touring band\, Paper Doll takes its title from the first song the Kansas City-bred musician penned for the LP: a raw yet reflective battle cry that perfectly encapsulates the album’s spirit of unapologetic defiance. “That song’s a feminist anthem in a way—but then again\, every song’s a feminist anthem when you’re a woman writing from your own experience\,” says Fish. “It’s about rebelling against other people’s expectations of who you’re supposed to be\, which feels pretty relevant for the times we’re living in right now.” \nRecorded at The Orb in Austin and Savannah Studios in L.A.\, Paper Doll marks the latest entry in an uncompromising and endlessly adventurous catalog that’s found her working with luminaries like Jon Spencer of Jon Spencer Blues Explosion as well as Luther Dickinson (co-founder of North Mississippi Allstars and former member of the Black Crowes). This time around\, Fish reunited with Detroit garage-rock icon Bobby Harlow\, who also produced her 2017 LP Chills & Fever. “When I look back on Chills & Fever I realize that Bobby was pushing me into some cool and dangerous places\, but at that phase in my life I was holding back a bit\,” she says. “Now I’m at a point where I’m ready to give people something totally unexpected\, something that breaks the pop formula and really takes its time to tell a story with the guitar playing.” \nFor help in shaping Paper Doll’s magnificently rowdy but nuanced sound\, Fish joined forces with bandmates Ron Johnson (bass)\, Jamie Douglass (drums)\, and Mickey Finn (keys)\, cutting most of the album in the midst of a grueling touring schedule that included a run of dates with Slash on the legendary guitarist’s S.E.R.P.E.N.T. festival in summer 2024. “I’d never made a record on the road like that\,” Fish reveals. “Even though it was so intense\, it felt good to keep up the momentum from the live show. It helped us make an album that’s got a real living\, breathing pulse to it.” \nA potent balance of catharsis and introspection\, boldness and vulnerability\, Paper Doll opens on the sublimely moody riffs of “I’m Done Runnin’”—an exhilarating statement of self-reliance\, expressed with unshakable self-possession (from the bridge: “When I look in the mirror\, staring at the unknown/The world’s not getting clearer\, but I like where I’m goin’”). “It’s about pushing forward even when life knocks you down\, because you know what you want\,” Fish explains. One of several songs partly composed with her longtime co-writer Jim McCormick (a multi-platinum hitmaker whose credits also include Luke Bryan and Tim McGraw)\, “I’m Done Runnin’” draws much of its impact from Fish’s deepened confidence in her vocal prowess. “Singing live onstage is one thing\, but learning how to bring that energy into the studio is a whole different beast\,” she points out. \nAnother track steeped in fiery attitude and hard-won self-assurance\, “Lose You” kicks into a breakneck pace as Fish confronts a noncommittal paramour\, adorning her takedown with a blazing guitar solo and the beguiling harmonies of backup singers D. Scaife\, Keo\, and Gabbi Beauvais. “It’s a song about taking control and calling the shots in a relationship\,” says Fish. “It’s my way of saying\, ‘I’m on fire and you’re not\, so what are you gonna do about it?’” Later\, on the wildly fun “Rusty Razor\,” Paper Doll goes scorched earth with a brutally catchy tirade against life’s infinite injustices\, amping up the track’s pure punk exuberance with the help of guest vocalist Mick Collins (co-founder of seminal Detroit bands The Gories and The Dirtbombs). “The older you get\, the more you can become numb to all the bad shit that happens in life—whether it’s friends passing away before their time\, or working so hard and never getting to where you want to be\,” says Fish. “But the truth is\, we should never get used to our hearts being broken like that.” \nAlthough a feverish intensity fuels much of Paper Doll\, the album drifts into a dreamlike languor on songs like “Fortune Teller” (a psych-blues slow-burner driven by a particularly spellbinding vocal turn from Fish). Meanwhile\, “Sweet Southern Sounds” unfolds in smoldering riffs and lush organ melodies\, ultimately taking the form of a soul-searching epic that turns gloriously frenetic in its final moments. Co-written with fellow New Orleans-based singer/songwriter Anders Osborne\, the result is a gripping meditation on a tension all too familiar to those fiercely devoted to their passion. “It’s an anthem about being on the road and feeling guilty about not prioritizing the people in your life\,” says Fish. “It’s hard to find that balance between taking care of your relationships and dedicating yourself to your music\, and there’s definitely a tinge of heartache to that song.” \nA consummate music obsessive who lists such eclectic artists as Prince\, Leonard Cohen\, and Black Sabbath among her influences\, Fish found herself especially fascinated with Delta blues heroes like Junior Kimbrough and R.L. Burnside in the writing of Paper Doll. “I love how in a lot of Mississippi Hill Country blues there’s a drone that happens on the low notes and keeps you hypnotized throughout the song\,” she says. “A lot of the guitar work on this record is inspired by that style of playing—and then from there it explodes in all different directions\, from rock & roll to soul to pop.” In sculpting such an expansive body of work\, Fish found an ideal creative partner in Harlow\, who also co-wrote a number of songs on Paper Doll. “I can be a perfectionist when it comes to recording\, and it was cool to have Bobby around to stop from me trying to robotically hit the exact note over and over\,” she says. And as a born performer who got her start by thumbing through the phone book and cold-calling local bars for gigs in her mid-teens\, Fish crafted every song on Paper Doll with an eye toward her incendiary live show. “The main goal is to make great songs that tap into whatever I’m feeling at the moment\, but at the same time I’m asking\, ‘How is this going to feel live?’” she says. “I’m always thinking about how to add to our arsenal of songs and put together an amazing show for when we’re back out on the road.” \nArguably her most accomplished work to date\, Paper Doll emerged from Fish’s deliberate embracing of the ineffable musical gifts she’s cultivated almost her entire life. “When we started working on this record I asked myself\, ‘What are my superpowers?’ I wanted to lean into my strengths in a way I never completely had before\, to make a big guitar album with some epic performances and really sing my ass off\,” she says. “I ended up pouring so much emotion into all the songs\, and I hope they help people feel fired up and ready to take on anything that comes their way. I’d love for this record to be somebody’s jet fuel.”

SUMMARY:Dinosaur Jr. + Snail Mail
DESCRIPTION:Dinosaur Jr. was founded in 1984 and the group emerged among the most highly regarded in alternative rock. By reintroducing volume and attack in his songs\, Mascis shed the strict limitations of early 1980s hardcore\, becoming an influence on the burgeoning grunge movement. Mascis’ body of work continues to inspire a generation of guitar players and songwriters today. \nWhen the original line up of Mascis\, Lou Barlow on bass and drummer Murph re-formed in 2005 for select live dates it was apparent that the years apart had not eroded any of their vitality. Restoring the sound established by the opening hat-trick gambit of Dinosaur\, You’re Living All Over Me\, and Bug\, 2007’s Beyond continued the band’s march into rock greatness by making old ears smile and new ears bleed afresh. The original lineup has now released five studio albums since their reunion\, most recently 2021’s “Sweep It Into Space” on Jagjaguwar Records. \n\n \n\nSnail Mail\nOn her 2018 debut album Lush\, seventeen-year-old Lindsey Jordan sang “I’m in full control / I’m not lost / Even when it’s love / Even when it’s not”. Her natural ability to be many things at once resonated with a lot of people. The contradiction of confidence and vulnerability\, power and delicacy\, had the impact of a wrecking ball when put to tape. It was an impressive and unequivocal career-making moment for Jordan. \nOn Valentine\, her sophomore album out November 5th on Matador\, Lindsey solidifies and defines this trajectory in a blaze of glory. In 10 songs\, written over 2019-2020 by Jordan alone\, we are taken on an adrenalizing odyssey of genuine originality in an era in which “indie” music has been reduced to gentle\, homogenous pop composed mostly by ghost writers. Made with careful precision\, Valentine shows an artist who has chosen to take her time. The reference points are broad and psychically stirring\, while the lyrics build masterfully on the foundation set by Jordan’s first record to deliver a deeper understanding of heartbreak. \nOn “Ben Franklin”\, the second single of the album\, Jordan sings “Moved on\, but nothing feels true / Sometimes I hate her just for not being you / Post rehab I’ve been feeling so small / I miss your attention\, I wish I could call”. It’s here that she mourns a lost love\, conceding the true nature of a fleeting romantic tie-up and ultimately\, referencing a stay in a recovery facility in Arizona. This 45-day interlude followed issues stemming from a young life colliding with sudden fame and success. Since she was not allowed to bring her instruments or recording equipment\, Jordan began tabulating the new album arrangements on paper solely out of memory and imagination. It was after this choice to take radical action that Valentine really took its unique shape. \nJordan took her newfound sense of clarity and calm to Durham\, North Carolina\, along with the bones of a new album. Here she worked with Brad Cook (Bon Iver\, Waxahatchee). For all the album’s vastness and gravity\, it was in this small home studio that Jordan and Cook chipped away over the winter of early 2021 at co-producing a dynamic collection of genre-melding new songs\, finishing it triumphantly in the spring. They were assisted by longtime bandmates Ray Brown and Alex Bass\, as well as engineer Alex Farrar\, with a live string section added later at Spacebomb Studios in Richmond. \nLeaning more heavily into samples and synthesizers\, the album hinges on a handful of remarkably untraditional pop songs. The first few seconds of opener and title track ‘Valentine’ see whispered voice and eerie sci-fi synth erupt into a stadium-sized\, endorphin-rush of a chorus that is an overwhelming statement of intent. “Ben Franklin”\, “Forever (Sailing)” and “Madonna” take imaginative routes to the highest peaks of catchiness. Jordan has always sung with a depth of intensity and conviction\, and the climactic pop moments on Valentine are delivered with such a tenet and a darkness and a beauty that’s noisy and guttural\, taking on the singularity that usually comes from a veteran artist. \nAs captivating as the synth-driven songs are\, it’s the more delicate moments like “Light Blue”\, “c.et. al.” and “Mia” that distill the albums range and depth. “Baby blue\, I’m so behind / Can’t make sense of the faces in and out of my life / Whirling above our daily routines / Both buried in problems\, baby\, honestly” Jordan sings on “c. et. al.” with a devastating certainty. These more ethereal\, dextrously finger-picked folk songs peppered in throughout the album are nuanced in their vocal delivery and confident in their intricate arrangement. They come in like a breath of air\, a moment to let the mind wander\, but quickly drown the listener in their melodic alchemy and lyrical punch. \nThe album is rounded out radiantly by guitar-driven rock songs like “Automate”\, “Glory” and “Headlock”. Reminiscent of Lush but with a marked tonal shift\, Jordan again shows her prowess as a guitar player with chorus-y leads and rhythmic\, wall-of-sound riffs. “Headlock” highlights this pivot with high-pitched dissonance and celestially affected lead parts – “Can’t go out I’m tethered to / Another world where we’re together / Are you lost in it too?”\, she sings with grit and fatigue\, building so poignantly on her sturdy foundation of out-and-out melancholy. On Valentine\, we are taken 100 miles deeper into the world Jordan created with Lush\, led through passageways and around dark corners\, landing somewhere we never dreamed existed. \nToday\, in the wake of recording Valentine\, Jordan is focused on trying to continue healing without slowing down. The album comes in the midst of so much growth\, in the fertile soil of a harrowing bottom-out. On the heels of life-altering success\, a painful breakup and 6 weeks in treatment\, Jordan appears vibrant and sharp. “Mia\, don’t cry / I love you forever / But I gotta grow up now / No I can’t keep holding onto you anymore” she sings on the album closer “Mia”. She sings softly but her voice cuts through like a hacksaw. The song is lamenting a lost love\, saying a somber goodbye\, and it closes the door on a bitter cold season for Jordan. Leaving room for a long and storied path\, Valentine is somehow a jolt and a lovebuzz all at once. \n– Katie Crutchfield \n\n\n \n\nEasy Action\nEasy Action is a Detroit rock band comprised of seasoned musicians\, each with an impressive musical legacy. The current lineup includes John Brannon on lead vocals\, Harold Richardson on guitar\, Ron Sakowski on bass guitar\, and John Lehl on drums. \nJohn Brannon\, the lead vocalist\, is a legendary figure in the Detroit music scene\, known for his intense vocals and uncompromising stage presence. With a rich musical heritage from Detroit\, Brannon gained prominence as the frontman for influential bands like Negative Approach and Laughing Hyenas\, leaving an indelible mark on punk and rock genres. \nNegative Approach\, formed in 1981\, showcased Brannon’s raw energy and confrontational lyrics\, becoming a cornerstone of the hardcore punk scene. After Negative Approach\, Brannon fronted Laughing Hyenas\, exploring bluesy\, post-punk sounds and earning critical acclaim. \nIn 1996\, John Brannon and the Harold formed Easy Action at the Performance Center in Ann Arbor\, joined by Ron Sakowski. Easy Action relocated to Detroit in 1997. Over the years\, Easy Action underwent various lineup changes\, with the current formation solidifying in 2016. \nNotably\, Easy Action and Negative Approach share the same members\, creating a unique synergy. Harold Richardson who previously played in the 90s experimental noise rock band Gravitar\, has been a performing member of Negative Approach since 2006. Ron Sakowski also has been preforming with Negative Approach since 2006 and rejoined Easy Action in 2016. His history with bands Necros\, Laughing Hyenas is impressive. John Lehl\, who joined Easy Action in 2016\, brings his own extensive musical background to the mix. Prior to Easy Action\, he played drums in Chapstik\, Tesco Vee’s Hate Police\, and the Meatmen. Lehl has also been a performing member of Negative Approach since 2013\, further solidifying the musical connections within this tight-knit group
