SUMMARY:Run for Dunn
DESCRIPTION:For more information about the Run\, please visit http://www.getitdunn.org/ \nAlso\, check us out on Facebook and Twitter \nThe rally to Get It Dunn started in 2011 as a way for friends and family of Amy Dunn to stand beside her as she fought a diagnosis of Stage IV melanoma. Get It Dunn became both a support system and a fundraising effort to help Amy receive and get through the treatment she needed. Just as importantly\, and all too fittingly\, Get It Dunn was also a mantra for Amy’s “give it all you’ve got” approach to living life. She gave her best and demanded the best from others. She got it done. \nToday\, we strive to embody the spirit of Getting It Dunn in our daily lives to honor and remember Amy. Since her passing\, Amy’s family and friends continue to Get It Dunn by promoting melanoma awareness and sun safety – primarily through our annual fun run\, Run for Dunn. \nABOUT THE RUN – JUNE 4\, 2023 @ 10:30AM\nRun for Dunn is a fun\, all ages\, all abilities\, 3-mile run/walk. As part of our sun safety mission\, we have developed a partnership with local dermatologists and St. Luke’s MSTI to offer free skin cancer screenings to all registered participants of Run for Dunn. \nAll participants receive free access to skin screenings\, a Run for Dunn t-shirt\, and a BBQ burger/hot dog lunch. \nSTART AND FINISH\nThe course will follow the Boise Greenbelt and will start and finish at Julia Davis Park – Boise Pavilion. Limited parking will be available at Julia Davis. Please consider alternate transportation or carpooling for this event. Join us for the post-race party to celebrate Amy’s 41st birthday. \nPACKET PICK-UP AND SKIN SCREENINGS\nPacket pick-up will be on the day of the race from 9:00 – 10:30 am at Julia Davis Shelter #1. \nSkin cancer screenings will run from 9:30 am – 1:30 pm at Julia Davis Shelter #1. \nREGISTRATION INFORMATION\nRegister by May 6 to guarantee your t-shirt size. Registration will remain open after May 6\, including walk-ups\, however\, no shirt sizing will be guaranteed.

SUMMARY:Aaron Butler Memorial Purple Heart Run: Idaho
DESCRIPTION:The Aaron Butler Memorial Purple Heart Run will be held on Saturday\, August 19th\, 2023 at Eagle Island State Park. Chose to experience the 5K\, 10K\, or an Unknown Distance Run\, all will start at 0900. The event is about community and sacrifice – feel free to wear traditional running attire\, or load yourself down with a ruck sack\, military/LEO uniform\, or boots and body armor for an added degree of awesomeness. Wondering if the “suck factor” may be too high? Ask yourself… What Would Aaron Butler Do #wwabd? Embrace the suck! With beer\, music\, food\, guest speakers\, and lots to do for kids\, it’s a lot more than a run. It’s an emotional and educational experience. \nPlace\nEagle Island State Park\nEagle\, ID US 83616 \nThis is a celebration of all US servicemembers who have given their lives or parts of themselves physically in combat operations around the globe. The after party promises to be epic. We will have local beer\, music\, food\, local coffee\, and lots to do for kids. All race proceeds will go to the Aaron Butler Memorial Foundation (a 501C3 nonprofit). This event was created by local Purple Heart recipients\, and there will be an opportunity for all participants and supporters to meet and learn from those men and women who have been wounded in combat. The race courses will be lined with pictures and stories about Purple Heart Recipients who gave their lives in the Global War on Terror (since 9/11/2001). Bring out your families\, let your children meet and absorb the words of Gold Star families (who have lost loved ones in combat)\, Vietnam War Purple Heart Recipients\, and Purple Heart Recipients from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are among us every day\, this in a unique opportunity for all of us to see and hear from local community members who have given more than most for our Nation.

SUMMARY:2023 SMOKE ’N’ FIRE 400
DESCRIPTION:The Idaho Smoke ‘n’ Fire 400 is a 400ish mile self-supported mountain bike race traversing some of Idaho’s diverse geography on two-track\, big gravel and dirt Forest Service roads\, challenging singletrack\, some hike-a-bike\, and a few paved roads. This 400ish mile loop features nearly 41\,000 feet of climbing with big expanses and big views. \nSeptember in Idaho is amazing! The weather is generally great – clear and warm during the day and chilly at night\, but it can also be fickle and unpredictable. The trees are starting to change colors and there are fewer people in the backcountry which leads to more wildlife sightings. \nThe Smoke ‘n’ Fire route travels through remote areas\, however\, there are sufficient resupply opportunities available. Idaho is a water rich state and much of the route winds along crystal clear rivers\, pristine streams and clear lakes. Plus there are many geothermal hot springs created by the forces of nature that are accessible and soakable. \nOur annual event begins\, and ends\, in downtown Boise in historic Hyde Park\, typically the second Wednesday of each September. There is no registration fee\, no support and no prize money. Live tracking of the event is provided by Trackleaders. \nThis is a self-supported event so please read the rules and be prepared for the unexpected.
