February 9\, 1955 – April 4\, 2008 \nSusan Elaine Brubaker Newby died in 2008 during a mysterious horseback riding incident. After her death\, family\, and friends realized that SueB – her nickname – was likely in an abusive marriage. SueB’s sister\, Marj\, and friends\, Leslie and Teresa turned to the WCA as a way to honor SueB’s life and increase awareness about domestic violence. Their hope: “to help other successful\, smart\, beautiful women like SueB leave these relationships before it’s too late.” \n  \nAbout The Race:\nContinuing to honor the memory of Susan “Sue B” Newby\, The 17th Annual SueB 5K kicks off on Sunday\, October 4th at 12 pm at Julia Davis Park in Downtown Boise\, ID. Each participant will receive a free t-shirt*. (Must sign up by 9/10/26 to be guaranteed a shirt) \nIn addition to the race\, there will be a community resource fair starting at 10:30 am that is open to the public. This is an opportunity to discover and learn about the fantastic resources that our community has to offer. Raising awareness and encouraging important discussions about domestic abuse has always been a passion of Sue’s family and friends. \nRace fees support our Endowment Fund to ensure the WCA can maintain our services and serve our clients for many years to come.  The object of this Endowment is to provide funds in perpetuity for the operation of all of the WCA’s programs to provide safety\, healing\, and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. \nIn the heartfelt words of Sue’s sister Marj Sente: “Don’t wait until your sister\, daughter or mother is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault\, step forward now and make an investment in the WCA to raise awareness about domestic violence.”   \nThis is a great opportunity to celebrate positive relationships with your family\, friends\, and coworkers. Will you join us? \n  \nAbout The Course: \nThe 2026 SueB 5K course starts in Julia Davis park on the pathway between the Rose Garden and Boise Art Museum. Participants will venture onto the Boise River Greenbelt and travel east\, staying on the north side of the Greenbelt. There will be an aid station with water at the halfway point (near Kristen Armstrong Park). DESCRIPTION:The 41st Annual YMCA Harrison Classic\nThe Harrison Classic is a beloved Boise tradition for kids 14 and under! This one-mile run/walk down historic Harrison Boulevard is all-inclusive\, family-friendly\, and designed to inspire a lifelong love of fitness. \nWith a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of smiles\, the Harrison Classic is more than just a race—it’s a celebration of community and healthy living. Bring the whole family and cheer on the next generation of runners! \nSunday\, October 4th\, 2026 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPacket Pick Up\nEarly Packet Pick Up: \nFriday\, Oct 2nd 3-7 P.M at Bandanna Running and Walking \n  \nDay of Race Packet Pick Up: \nSunday\, Oct 4th on the corner of 17th and W. Good St. starting at 1:30 p.m. \n  \nWe highly recommend early packet pick-up to avoid the lines on Sunday afternoon. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStart and Finish Information\nStart: Drop off will take place on the corner of 17th and Good St. The Starting line is on Harrison Blvd just before Hill Road. \nFinish: McAuley Park on Harrison Blvd. This is a 1-mile run straight down Harrison Blvd. \nStarting Time: Please have kids dropped off no later than 2:45pm \n3:00 pm – 10 and older \n3:05 pm – 9-year-olds \n3:10 pm – 8-year-olds \n3:15 pm – 7-year-olds \n3:20 pm – 6-year-olds \n3:25 pm – 5-year-olds \n3:30 pm – 4 years old and younger \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCourse:\nThe Harrison Classic runs from Harrison Blvd at W. Good St. SOUTH down Harrison Blvd to the Finish line in front of McAuley Park.  Kids are encouraged to run on their own. Parents are welcome to run or walk with their child if desired\, registration for parents is not required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nParking:\nParking is limited in the area. We encourage you to ride bikes\, carpool or walk to the event. Please be respectful of the neighbors and do not block driveways or sidewalks. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTeams & Schools \nCreate a team with friends from your school or a different school\, neighborhood\, or family! Come up with a fun team name and share it with your friends\, get creative\, and celebrate being active together (You do not have to go to the same school to be on a team!).

DESCRIPTION:Event Description\n\nSunday\, October 11\, 2026\nCourse Maps will be updated once details have been finalized. \nGREAT SWAG and T-SHIRT DEADLINE\nParticipant T-shirt and all COT runners get a finisher’s award. Please note that registrants registering after October 1\, 2026 are not guaranteed a shirt. \nPlease note courses utilize the Boise Greenbelt system. Should we run the Greenbelt\, the river can be unpredictable. Systems and entities that govern the local Greenbelt are constantly dealing with these challenges. Typical issues are created due to sidewalk construction\, sinkholes\, flooding\, etc. During the run\, you may encounter wildlife that may cause a delay in your progress and/or change in your planned route. Or you may cause your own delay to stop and listen to the amazing sounds this course creates.
