With all due respect to the late James Brown. \nHofstetter’s national TV debut came on ESPN’s Quite Frankly\, where Stephen A. Smith yelled at him for three minutes. Hofstetter has also appeared on CBS’ “Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson”\, Showtime’s “White Boyz in the Hood”\, VH1’s “Countdown”\, Sundance’s “On the Road in America”\, and ABC’s “Barbara Walter’s Special”\, where he thankfully did not cry. He is the host and executive producer of “Laughs” on Fox networks\, where he only cries occasionally. \nOne of the top booked acts on the college circuit\, the original writer for collegehumor.com has also released six albums. Hofstetter has written humor columns for the New York Times\, SportsIllustrated.com\, and NHL.com\, where he publicly admitted to being a Ranger fan. \nAfter hosting Four Quotas on Sirius Satellite Radio for two seasons\, Hofstetter moved to broadcast radio\, and his Sports Minute (Or So) was syndicated on over 170 stations and in over 30 newspapers. Hofstetter’s second live comedy album (“Cure For the Cable Guy”) reached #20 on Billboard’s comedy charts. His third album (“Dark Side of the Room”) was the first ever pay-what-you-want” comedy album\, since people were going to steal it anyway. His fourth album consisted of an hour of 100% ad-libbed material\, which is\, frankly\, nuts. And his fifth album hit #1 on iTunes’ comedy charts\, which is also a bit nuts. \nHofstetter’s brutal tour schedule consists of over 100 colleges and dozens of clubs every year\, and is fueled by an immense online popularity\, tons of press\, and a Prius with great gas mileage. He reached 200\,000 friends on Facebook (still the world record)\, 400\,000 more on MySpace\, and high shelves in grocery stores. \nWhile Hofstetter’s live shows are routinely sold out\, he is best known for his writing\, first published at age 15\, mainly to impress girls. At 18\, he co-founded “Sports Jerk of the Week”\, an irreverent website featured by press like USA Today’s Baseball Weekly\, Sports Illustrated and CNN. And at 20\, Hofstetter took a year off of school to head up web content for the New York Yankees. The Yankees won the World Series that year\, which would have been wonderful if they hadn’t beaten Hofstetter’s Mets. Yes\, he’s also a Mets fan. Poor kid. \nWhile an undergraduate at Columbia University\, Hofstetter was a well-read columnist for the Columbia Daily Spectator and a voice of the Lions. After a summer writing for Maxim\, ESPN\, and Sports Illustrated for Kids\, Hofstetter syndicated his column in several newspapers. \nWithout his glasses\, Hofstetter also looks a great deal like Michael Rappaport.

It’s all about good beer and good times\, and we want you there! \nA BREWFEST WITH A GREEN HEART\nOur goal is to employ zero and low-waste tactics at every turn for Shade City. Here are some of the ways we are reducing waste:   \n​ \n\n\nPatrons will bring their own cups! We are not having cups made for this event. There will be used/donated cups available to purchase should someone forget a cup. \n\n\n​ \n\n\nFood vendors will use reusable flatware and plates. \n\n\n​ \n\n\nThere will be a dishwashing station for cleaning plates for reuse managed by our friends at Roots Zero Waste Market.​ \n\n\n​ \n\n\nPromotional event posters will be printed on the back of old posters or on recycled paper. ​ \n\n\n​ \n\n\nWe will provide as many alternative transportation options as we can including: enhanced bus routes\, bike parking\, Lime scooter and bike discounts\, and more! \n\n\n​ \n\n\nSince 2023\, Shade City has partnered with ClimateHound to calculate our total carbon footprint\, implement emissions reduction initiatives\, and maintain carbon neutral certification for the event. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT TO BRING…\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nYour own cup! We know you have a steel pint glass\, cup from other beer fests\, or even an old coffee mug you can grab. We don’t care what kind of cup (except please no glass) – just bring one! \n\n\n​ \n\n\nA water bottle! It’s important to stay hydrated. We will have water stations around the ‘fest so you can refill. Please bring your water bottle empty and fill it at the water station when you arrive. \n\n\n​ \n\n\nA ‘70s outfit! We are keeping things groovy in honor of the first Earth Day which took place on April 22\, 1970. Dress up in your finest ‘70s attire and get ready to get funky. \n\n\n​ \n\n\nAn alternative transportation plan! Ride your bike\, walk\, run\, scooter\, or ride a bus to Shade City and raise a glass to reducing your carbon footprint. \n\n\n​ \n\n\nRespect for The Garden! Please do not walk in any garden beds or plant areas in the Garden. There are sleeping plants that we don’t want to trample. Stay on the paths. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWHAT NOT TO BRING…\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nA chair. We will have seating available or you can find a nice grassy spot to rest. There is limited space in the Garden\, so plan on sharing some elbow room with your neighbors! \n\n\n​ \n\n\nChildren or dogs. We love your kiddos and your pups\, but this particular party is for humans over 21 years old (this applies to infants as well). Only service animals are allowed.​ \n\n\n​ \n\n\nA cooler or outside food or drinks. We are going to have tons of beverages for you to enjoy! Beer\, cider\, NA beverages\, and a variety of food will be available for purchase\, so no need to bring any with you. \n\n\n​ \n\n\nWeapons of any kind. There are no weapons permitted in the Idaho Botanical Garden. Leave them at home!
