She was also\, twice\, a front runner in the CMT Music City Madness songwriting competition. \nPresently\, Kayleigh performs with the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. In addition to occasional solo performances\, she enjoys playing with her all-girl Bluegrass/ Country-Gospel group\, Shenandoah Grace. \nKayleigh\, her husband\, Neill\, their two small children\, Alice (5)\, Jack (2) and their big\, silly Golden Retriever\, Bruneau (1 1/2) live in the sticks near Idaho City where they enjoy all things ‘outdoors’.

SUMMARY:12th Annual Kids Triathlon
DESCRIPTION:Kids Triathlon\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nReady! Set! Participate! in the Nampa Rec Department’s Kids Triathlon! This fun and challenging event is for kids ages 6-13 and will include swimming\, biking and running. The 3-event race not only promotes fitness but improves your child’s self confidence as they cross the finish line on their own.  A great introduction to the sport\, participants will swim in Lincoln Pool followed by a safe bike and run on roads and grounds of Lions Park.   All participants will receive an event bag and all finishers will receive a t-shirt.  The transition areas will be in the parking lots and we strongly encourage friends and family to come cheer on these young competitors.  All participants must wear a helmet for the bike portion of the triathlon and supply their own bike. \n\n6-7 yr – 1 length of pool (approx 22 yd)\, 3/4 mile bike\, 1/4 mile run\n8-9 yr – 2 lengths of pool\, 1 ¼ mi bike\, 1/2 mile run\n10-11 yr – 4 lengths\, 2 1/3 mi bike\, 3/4 mile run\n12-13 yr – 6 lengths\, 4 mi bike\, 1 mi run\n\nThis event will take place on Saturday\, July 13\, 2024.  Check-In and prerace meetings will be held by age group and times will be established based on the final number of participants.  However\, approximate times are: \n\n12-13 yr:  7:30 a.m.\n10-11 yr:  8:30 a.m.\n8-9 yr:  9:00 a.m.\n6-7 yr:  9:45 a.m.\n\nHeats will begin directly after the prerace meeting is complete. \n$25 \nDownload an event map here.

Free family activities include bounce houses\, photo booths\, kid’s activity booths\, food trucks\, and more! Water fun will be provided by the Eagle Fire Department ladder truck and fire hose spraying water onto those wanting to get wet. This is an alcohol-free event for all ages.\n\nEagle Fun Days Fireworks Show\, Eagle High School\n\nHead to Eagle High School (574 N Park Ln\, Eagle ID) to catch the Eagle Fun Days Fireworks Show. The fireworks will launch around 10:30 pm. 1\,000 parking spots are available\, and parking is first-come\, first-served. This will not only help in decreasing the expenses that go into Eagle Fun Days\, saving taxpayers funds\, but it will also help to build an increase in community involvement by bringing more of the downtown businesses back into this great event of Eagle Fun Days.\nThe Eagle Fun Days Car Show will be from 12 pm – 3 pm at its usual location on State Street between 2nd Street and Stierman Way.\n If you have a classic car you would like to show off\, then this is the perfect opportunity! Pre-registration is preferred for this event\, but day of registration will be allowed\, space allowing. Register for the Car Show.\n\nEagle Fun Days Wet & Wild Parade\, Plaza Drive\n \n\nJoin us at 1 pm on Saturday\, July 13\, 2024\, for the Eagle Fun Days Parade!\nNew parade route this year! To help more people enjoy the parade\, this year’s parade will start on Plaza Drive and 2nd Street and then end on Old State Street. There are two parade phases\, the dry parade is first\, and the wet and wild parade is second. Please do not spray water during the dry portion of the parade.\nReturning this year! The City and the Eagle Fire Department are providing 30\, 300-gallon water troughs distributed throughout the parade route for people to use during the wet portion of the parade\, so people do not need to bring any water storage containers. Water balloons are not permitted due to safety reasons\, and we ask that you only fill your water toys with water from the provided clean water troughs.\nWe ask that you refrain from setting up canopies the day until the day of the parade. There is a lot of set up that happened to get the parade ready for everyone to enjoy\, and by waiting until the morning of the parade to place any canopies\, you are allowing the organizers time to properly set up everything for this fun event! Please note: the City is not liable for any damaged or missing property left on the parade route to hold your spot.\nThe 2024 Eagle Fun Days Parade application is open. Apply to be in the parade.\n\nCornhole Tournament\, Eagle City Hall\n\nAre you a backyard Cornhole champion? The tournament is brought to you by Cornhole\, Idaho\, and takes place in the back parking lot of Eagle City Hall. SUMMARY:BY & BYE - an unsustainable art show
DESCRIPTION:“BY & BYE: an unsustainable art show” is a multimedia\, evening-length dance theater performance in collaboration with multiple artists in Boise\, all under the direction of choreographer Daniel Ojeda. Serving as a self-aware retrospective of a fictionalized version of Daniel’s career\, a washed-up news anchor named Brad Tingen (played by local artist Joe Haege) will spend the evening interviewing Daniel on his artistic career thus far. Within this retrospective\, the audience will see three wildly different and collaborative dance works from Daniel’s career as a choreographer\, all of which feature the talents of other local Boise artists. As the evening progresses\, the interview between Brad and Daniel will steadily go off the rails and bring to light a singular question: what is the most sustainable way to make art? \n  \nCollaborators include: Frankie Tillo\, Jake Saunders\, Adam Wright\, Amanda Grant\, local band “Thick Business”\, and many more!

DESCRIPTION:ARTISTS\n\n\nANDREW BIRD\n\n \n\nAndrew Bird is an internationally acclaimed\, Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist\, vocalist\, whistler\, and songwriter who picked up his first violin at the age of four and spent his formative years soaking up classical repertoire completely by ear. Since beginning his recording career in 1997\, Bird has released 17 albums and performed extensively across the globe. He has recorded with the Preservation Hall Jazz Band\, appeared as “Dr. Stringz” on Jack’s Big Music Show\, and headlined concerts at Carnegie Hall\, Sydney Opera House\, Walt Disney Concert Hall\, Red Rocks Amphitheatre\, and festivals worldwide. \nBird performed as the Whistling Caruso in Disney’s The Muppets movie\, scored the FX series Baskets\, and collaborated with inventor Ian Schneller on Sonic Arboretum\, an installation that exhibited at New York’s Guggenheim Museum\, Boston’s ICA\, and the MCA Chicago. Bird has been a featured TED Talks presenter\, a New Yorker Festival guest\, and an op-ed contributor for the New York Times. \nMore recently\, Bird released a series of site-specific improvisational short films and recordings called Echolocations\, recorded in remote and acoustically interesting spaces: a Utah canyon\, an abandoned seaside bunker\, the middle of the Los Angeles River\, and a reverberant stone-covered aqueduct in Lisbon. Additionally\, Bird hosts an ongoing series of live-streamed performances called Live from the Great Room\, putting the creative process on display for fans as he collaborates and converses with friends in a candid\, intimate setting. \nShortly after receiving his 2020 Grammy nomination for Best Folk Album\, with My Finest Work Yet\, Andrew Bird made his professional acting debut in the cast of Fargo’s fourth installment\, which concluded on FX in November 2020 and is currently streaming via Hulu. In June 2022\, Bird released his latest album\, Inside Problems\, on Loma Vista Recordings.\n\nSOCIAL LINKS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNICKEL CREEK\n\n \n\nNickel Creek is mandolinist Chris Thile\, violinist Sara Watkins and guitarist Sean Watkins. Together a sum of more than their staggering parts\, the trio revolutionized bluegrass and folk in the early 2000s and ushered in a new era of what we now recognize as Americana music. After a nine year absence\, the Platinum-selling\, Grammy Award-winning trio returned in 2023 with the highly-anticipated album\, Celebrants—a bounty of 18 disparate but loosely connected songs written collectively during a creative retreat in Santa Barbara in early 2021. The result is perhaps the most audacious yet accessible release of the Grammy-winning trio’s 34-year career. The entire enterprise is\, naturally\, shot through with the trio’s virtuosic picking and shiver-inducing harmonies. While the cyclical nature of gardening seems inherent\, in some ways\, Haley Heynderickx is just beginning. Her debut album\, named I Need to Start a Garden out of a search for calm through these waves of uncertainty and upheaval\, is out now via Mama Bird Recording Co. \nFor the empathetic singer/songwriter\, the reasons for seeking such acceptance and understanding stem from a life of paradoxes. Heynderickx grew up in a religious household in Oregon\, closely identifying with her Filipino roots\, but also straddling multiple cultural identities. Now residing in Portland\, her faith is not overt\, but her introspection and continued struggle for self-actualization are easily accessible and relatable. \nLikewise\, the tracks on I Need to Start a Garden reflect these seemingly disparate elements. Through soft acoustic guitar picking and deftly accented trombone sighs\, Heynderickx’s music immediately recalls folk music of the ‘60s and ‘70s mixed with a love of jazz radio. But Heynderickx’s singing—her vocals that range from tender to operatic—belie a tenacity in her soul. \nIt’s a balance then\, between exposing and protecting herself on I Need to Start a Garden. Heynderickx vacillates between powerlessness (opener “No Face”) and empowerment (lead single “Oom Sha La La”)\, but her generosity of spirit remains the constant throughout the whole album. \nYou can hear that exceptional care in “Jo”\, as she whispers\, “You tended your garden like heaven and hell / and you built the birds houses to see if it helped at all.” Aware of the birds\, the garden\, and anyone listening acutely\, Heynderickx’s music serves as an invitation for all to join her. Because the beauty of a garden is that\, while it’s often started for deeply personal reasons\, its bounty is best consumed and shared with others.
