DESCRIPTION:WHAT\nThis winter\, students representing 42 middle schools and 37 high schools from across the Treasure Valley will participate in the Bogus Basin School Race Program. This season marks 65 years of fun and friendly ski and snowboard competitions that will take place over a series of six winter weekends – with the Dotty Clark Memorial Race as the championship finale. \nWHEN & WHERE\nJANUARY 13 @ 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM\nNordic Racers meet at Frontier Point Lodge. Alpine Races take place at Bitterroot Basin. The public should expect heavy traffic in these areas. \nABOUT THE PROGRAM\n65 years ago the Bogus Basin School Race Program was built with 3 things in mind: provide a safe environment for competition on the slopes; encourage students to represent and compete for their school in a lifetime sports activity; and provide a level of competition in which the maximum number of students can participate. \nOver the years\, Bogus Basin has expanded the School Race Program to include downhill\, freestyle and Nordic events for athletes of all levels; many students compete in multiple events. Participants are eligible for lift ticket and rental equipment discounts\, and additional financial assistance is available for those who qualify. The program relies upon the support of over 150 volunteer advisors\, most are school teachers who promote it at their schools and spend their Saturdays assisting with the races and other events\, including the Snow Dance Party\, and St. Luke’s helmet decorating contest.

Bands include Lonesome Jetboat Ramblers\, Dry Buck\, Turtle Poppers\, The Aldape Bootstompers\, The Wooly Buggers\, The Tin Roof Terrors\, CheatGrass\, Red Boots & Basil\, The Unchosen\, Backwood Ramblers\, Wilder Band\, and a few more surprises. This is IBA’s annual fundraiser event for 2024\, which allows us to support bluegrass music throughout Idaho\, including youth scholarships for music camps. Whether as individuals or as a group\, they have performed on stages from their hometown hotspots to Hollywood clubs\, music festivals\, and as far as Europe\, having shared a stage with several regional\, national and international touring acts and performed at events with more than 12\,000 people to entertain.  \nBy 2011\, the band’s hard work\, dedication and undying fan loyalty had a big payoff. 57 Heavy was honored by being the winner of the Ninkasi Brewing / 100.3 The X ‘Last Band Standing’ competition\, as well as awarded a recording deal with Topsecret Records and the opener for the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival at the Idaho Center Amphitheater\, where 9\,000 were in attendance. Other highlights includes opening for top touring bands such as the Legendary Steven Adler’s band ‘Adler’s Appetite’ and arena rockers\, Def Leppard.
