SUMMARY:Albert Cummings
DESCRIPTION:Albert Cummings is the complete package. He’s not just the guitar player or the bluesman or the singer or the songwriter. Though he is a master of all of that\, he is so much more. He is the complete package\, with an approach to blues and rock that has been described as soulful and explosive. \nThe Massachusetts native learned the necessary three chords on the guitar from his father but switched to playing banjo at 12 when he became a fan of bluegrass. In his late teens\, he heard the early recordings of Stevie Ray Vaughan and when he saw Vaughan perform\, he returned to the guitar\, determined to master it. \nA master builder\, Cummings did not make his first public performance on the guitar until he was 27. Soon he was on the Northeast blues circuit with his band\, Swamp Yankee. In 1998\, he walked into a Northeast Blues Society open jam and won the right to compete in the Blues Foundation’s 1999 International Blues Challenge. In 2000\, his debut recording\, The Long Way\, was released to rave reviews\, with Bluesprint magazine calling it “a barrage of guitar pyrotechnics that call to mind a grand mix of the styles of past masters like Albert King\, Freddie King\, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimmie Hendrix.” \nHis success opened doors and he was able to work with Double Trouble\, the late Vaughan’s rhythm section. Bassist Tommy Shannon and drummer Chris Layton were so taken with Cumming’s fire and passion that they produced his first solo recording\, From the Heart. They performed on it\, as well\, marking the first recording either had done since Vaughan’s tragic death. Cummings\, who originally picked up the guitar when he heard Stevie Ray Vaughan\, had come full circle. \nThe guitar player caught the attention of Blind Pig Records\, which produced for Muddy Waters\, Jimmy Vivino and Elvin Bishop. His label debut\, True to Yourself\, established him as a singer and songwriter of note\, and a great guitar player. Tours and shows with B.B. King\, Johnny Winter and Buddy Guy brought him to a larger audience and his 2006 album\, Working Man\, was said by Billboard to be “the calling card of a star who has arrived.” \nGuitar Edge magazine summed up Cummings’ reach this way: “The blues is best served up live\, with an enthusiastic audience and a killin’ band and that’s exactly what guitarist Albert Cummings does…Cummings effortlessly shifts from chimney subdued stylings to raucous roadhouse raunch to soaring yet stinging lead lines\, driving his audience to frenzy in all the right places.” \nIn 2022\, Albert Cummings released his album\, TEN. It’s the kind of recording that shows why all the accolades and excitement have been deserved and it comes at a time when the world is looking into what might be in store past the challenging experience of the pandemic for the past few years. Music has always had a way of bringing healing and inspiration to listeners. \nOne of the most striking things on TEN is the songs themselves. Written by Cummings\, the 13 tracks feel like a compelling and emotional summation of what the artist has seen and done. The lyrics capture Cummings’ life and his early days in music and demonstrate how he went on to make such a strong impact on modern blues. \nAlbert Cummings has always prided himself on not putting limits on the music he can create. “It’s so important to stay open to all possibilities\,” he said. “That’s the way I look at music. I’ve been playing a lot of years and still find new ways of expressing myself. That’s what this album is all about to me. It’s given me a new way of looking at my future\, and lets me see that I am still able to do whatever I can dream of. SUMMARY:Young Dubliners
DESCRIPTION:The Young Dubliners are quite possibly Celtic rock’s hardest working band\, playing hundreds of shows to thousands of fans across the US and Europe every year. In recent years they have twice appeared on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live!\, had songs featured in TV shows (Sons Of Anarchy\, Human Target) and toured extensively as a headliner and as the opener for such a diverse list of artists as The Flaming Lips\, Collective Soul\, Jethro Tull\, Johnny Lang and many more. \nAlthough the Young Dubliners sound is most commonly called ‘Celtic Rock’\, that label\, as labels often can be\, is misleading. The Irish influence is there\, certainly\, but it’s not the only influence that rears its head on their albums\, or in live shows. After all\, several of the band members have no Irish roots of any kind. “That was always the idea”\, Keith Roberts\, lead singer for the band explains. “The sound was always intended to be a hybrid because we all come from different backgrounds. Even though two of us are from Ireland\, a lot of the music we listened to growing up wasn’t Irish at all\, but when we got here\, we got homesick and developed a new appreciation for Irish Music. In truth the Celtic riffs can just as easily come from the American band members. Everyone writes now so you never know what you’ll end up with when you start on a new album. \nThe band has just released their brand new studio album\, NINE. It contains ten brand new original songs with the usual blend of themes and tempos to keep the listener captivated. This was a unique experience for the band as they released it independently for the first time in their career. \n“We had a few offers but decided we were well overdue to take things into our own hands\,” says Roberts\, “After eight albums on various labels it just seemed right to go it alone for once and maintain full creative control.” \nHowever ‘going it alone’ did not mean without financial support and for that they turned to their fans. After only two weeks the band had received over half the necessary funds to complete the recording\, manufacturing and marketing plan for the album and work began on February 1st\, 2012. The road intervened as is usual for this non-stop touring band and the recording process was put on temporary hold as they commenced a long US summer tour followed by a month long European Fall run. \nNow\, with the Album finally hitting the streets on March 4th\, the Dubs are out on the road again in support. \n“Having a whole album of new songs really invigorates the live show for us and makes it exciting all over again” say Roberts. “It’s like a shot in the arm every time we go through this process”.

At the Pulse Endurance Runs\, you can enjoy nature while running on a beautiful flat dirt trail 2 1/2 mile loop bordering the Boise River and Eagle Island pond. See the website for all course details. This is a great course to get your first ultra\, anywhere from a 50K to 100 miles and beyond! \nThe Race\nThe Pulse Endurance Runs are a beautiful and flat fixed-time race held at Eagle Island State Park\, 8 miles west of Boise\, Idaho. Test yourself against the clock and some of the northwest’s top timed event runners at Idaho’s premier timed race on a flat\, dirt trail. Set a goal and achieve it\, running as many miles as you can in 48\, 24\, 12\, or 6 hours. Or\, sign up for the 100 mile fixed-distance option! We added the Relay back so bring your friends and run with up to 5 of your friends. Contact the RD if you’re signing up for the Relay and have less than 5 runners and I will adjust the price accordingly. This must be done prior to registering.\nCome for fun\, or come for speed….just bring your smiles!\nNo refunds will be provided\, including in the event of a cancellation outside of the organizers control.\nYOU MUST BE REGISTERED BY MARCH 3rd TO BE GUARANTEED FINISHERS SCHWAG \nRace Times\nWe have a lot of event options.
