Yesterday, The Together We Give Foundation, a charitable foundation created and supported by The Mike Brown Group, its agents, and corporate contributors, gave away $100,000 in grants to five Boise area non-profits.
The grant amounts were determined by a vote of the Mike Brown Group clients, agents, staff, community partners, and Together We Give Foundation corporate contributors. The top vote earning non-profit received a check for $50,000. The second and third place charities each received $20,000. The fourth and fifth place organizations each received $5,000.
It was an exciting day watching members of the foundation deliver the news, and the grant checks to the various organizations.
The five organizations receiving grants were the Boise Angels, Boise Bicycle Project, Idaho Youth Ranch, Life’s Kitchen, and the Ronald McDonald House.
Voting was conducted over two weeks and concluded on Friday 12/11/2020 at 11:59 p.m. Winners found out yesterday what amount they received.
The first stop was the Boise Bicycle Project. Emily Summerhays, the Director of Operations, accepted the grant of $5,000.
The next organization to receive a grant was Life’s Kitchen. Executive Director Tammy Johnson accepted the check for $20,000.
The third stop on the grant-giving tour was the Ronald McDonald House in downtown Boise. Mindy Plumlee, the Executive Director, accepted the first-place grant of $50,000.
Next, the foundation delivered a check for $20,000 to Amy Curry, the Boise Angels’ Executive Director.
The final stop was at the Idaho Youth Ranch corporate offices, where CEO Scott Curtis accepted a grant of $5,000.
Giving away $100,000 was a great start for the first year of the Together We Give Foundation. Next year, the organization looks to raise even more and award grants to even more organizations. The easiest way to participate is to work with a Mike Brown Group agent as a donation is made to the foundation for every transaction the group is a part of, whether it’s buying or selling real estate. If you’re an existing client and aren’t planning on moving, the group certainly appreciates referrals or introductions to people you know who may be in the market to buy or sell real estate.
