New Year New House in Idaho

Happy New Year! As we begin 2021 with fresh optimism, it’s time to start thinking about our goals and dreams for the new year. Going beyond resolutions, maybe you have plans to move this year. As you’re aware, Idaho real estate is a hot commodity, coveted by not only people living here but those wanting to move here from out of state.

In 2020, Idaho saw the largest population growth in the nation, according to new statistics released by the U.S. Census Bureau. Idaho saw its population grow 2.1% year-over-year, beating Nevada and Arizona, which also saw significant population gains. The findings also revealed the mass exodus in states like California, Illinois, and New York, which all saw net decreases in their populations as people fled to other states.

If you’re looking to buy a house in Idaho this year, patience and persistence are going to be needed as you search. Inventory here in the Treasure Valley is at historic lows. With demand significantly outpacing supply, coupled with record-low mortgage interest rates, it’s not uncommon to see homes sell for thousands more than asking.

While supply is tight, there is optimism that more homes will come on the market as the pandemic subsides, helping to slow rising home prices. It’s anyone’s guess, though, as to when that might happen.

Regardless of if you choose to wait or not, you have options.
