Boise Philharmonic – Sonic Boom! Family Concert

March 18 @ 2:00 pm

After performing this concert for over 10,000 students from all over the Treasure Valley, we want your whole family to enjoy it together!

Go on the musical adventure of two friends, Sound and Silence, as they make music for the very first time. Silence, a first-time adventurer, wants to explore the wonders of the quietest galaxy in the universe; however, it does not take long for the wanderer to crash into the unimaginable – Sound! Sound, an intergalactic smuggler of noises, samples sonorities from across the universe and puts on a show that Silence will never forget!

Jennifer Drake, conductor

Featuring selections from:

Ottorino Respighi: “The Pines of Villa Borghese” from the Pines of Rome

Edvard Grieg: “In the Hall of the Mountain King” from the Peer Gynt Suite

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Eine Kleine Nachtmusik

Richard Strauss: Also Sprach Zarathustra – Opening

Samuel Coleridge Taylor: La Tarantella from Petit Suite

John Williams: Selections from E.T.
