School rankings are essential to consider when moving to a new area or new construction community, especially if you have school-aged children. Idaho is home to several great school districts and award-winning schools, allowing students to strive for academic excellence.
We visited a few different education ranking websites to identify the top-rated schools in Idaho. We used Niche.com, Great Schools, and School Digger to arrive at the results. Each of these websites uses different educational criteria to rank schools and sometimes arrive at different conclusions.
For instance, they look at publicly available information such as Department of Education data, including spending and testing results. The Idaho Department of Education also has a great site for researching schools and school districts.
We’ve compiled the ratings and have listed some of the top elementary schools, middle schools, and high schools in the Boise area.
There are two central school districts in the Boise area, the Boise School District and the West Ada School District. Boise was the first school district in the Gem State, and West Ada is the largest school district in Idaho, with nearly 41,000 students attending its schools.

Test results for this school show students are far exceeding the state’s averages for education, performing at or above their grade level.

As you can see, school ratings and rankings tend to vary based on the available information and how deep the websites wish to go in terms of using that data to formulate rankings.
Generally, the community regards these schools well, and some of the statistics may not necessarily reflect the quality of the schools or the education they provide.
