One of the biggest highlights of Star’s Fourth of July, the Hometown Celebration Parade brings the whole community together for a morning of floats, flags, and small-town patriotic spirit. Spectators line the streets as businesses, organizations, and families roll through town in a celebration that locals say “still has that small-town feel.” Entries compete for cash prizes awarded to the best floats, so expect plenty of creativity and hometown pride on display.
The parade begins at 10:00 AM at W. State Street in front of El Mariachi Loco, traveling west before turning right onto Star Road and continuing to W. Blake Drive. Roads along the route close from roughly 9:45–11:15 AM, so plan your travel accordingly. It’s the perfect kickoff to a full day of Star festivities — stick around afterward for hot dogs grilled by the Star Lions Club, the noon pie auction benefiting the Star Senior Center, kids’ water games with the Star Fire Department at Hunters Creek Park, food trucks, live music, and a community fireworks show to cap off the night.
Grab a spot along the route, bring your red, white, and blue, and celebrate Independence Day Star-style.
