Celebrate Independence Day in the mountains at Lakeside Liberty Fest, McCall’s beloved Fourth of July celebration along the shores of Payette Lake. Set against the stunning backdrop of the lake and the surrounding Payette National Forest, this multi-day festival blends small-town charm with festive holiday energy — and it’s well worth the scenic drive north from the Treasure Valley.
The Fourth kicks off with a parade through downtown McCall, followed by a full day of festivities centered at Legacy Park and Legacy Beach. Browse the vendor marketplace stocked with local food and treats, enjoy live music, and soak up the patriotic atmosphere in the community gathering spaces throughout the park. Families can take advantage of the sandy beach, sand volleyball, and lakeside picnic spots, and the celebration continues through the weekend with vendors July 4–6 and a free family movie by the lake on July 5. As the sun sets, all eyes turn to the sky for a spectacular fireworks display over Payette Lake.
A few mountain-town tips: weather changes quickly, so come prepared; keep dogs leashed; and note that alcohol is prohibited at beachfront parks over the holiday. Public transit is available — hop on the Bluebird Express to skip the parking hassle.
